Green can vary in "grit" if you will. Also depends on setup, but I'll give you what I got.
1 horse power jet for knife blades gets an 8 inch loose sewn cotton buff 1 inch thick. I hollow mostly on an 8 inch wheel so to buff and not wash out grind lines it's the same size. I prefer it that thick so I can better feel the hollow since I buff edge down unlike my grinding.
I have a mounted bench mandrel that is only 1/3 horse but is variable speed and it sees 1/2 thick 4-6 inch spiral sewn and loose (non sewn) depending on the job. Both are different "green" compounds though.
Now sometimes I load a very very very worn out old trizact belt with the compound too. So I suppose that's an 8 x 2 inch ?? lol
What are you doing with it? Answer could be a HF buffer motor with a sewn buff, or it could a Razor Edge paper wheel sharpening system. I'm sure it could be a few other things as well. Depends.
