After I ordered my slimline trapper I started to worry because I realized many examples making appearances around the porch were fairly canted, the best I saw were still canted at least a little.
Then I received this in the mail , probably the best recent example I've seen.
After I lost it I was pretty upset, it's not even one of my favorites and I don't carry it all that often but I didn't want to have to order another and get a bad one.
I suppose "different strokes for different folks," but my favorite nick position is the one right under the "peak." Easiest to get at, easiest to open, and being nicely centered, it treats my OCD kindly.
I'm with Jeff on the positioning of the nail nick. To me, that nick centered under the "peak" of the Peanut's clip blade looks great; love the symmetry!
The more time I spend with pocket knives, the "pickier" I get, though. I almost never buy knives with square bolsters anymore, and the patterns I like most (canoe, sowbelly stockman, and a certain style of "regular" stockman) have sunk, or nearly sunk, joints.
