Did I miss something or are these just parts knives thrown together. The first is for sale on Ebay now.The second is a POS I bought a while back. The guard and handle are so loose the will turn about 1/4 turn. What happened to the birdshead pommel both are stamped 147 on the blade.Toby

IMHO, the one with the undyed Staglon is a parts knife, the other seems to be assembled like a '49er. Dunno. The change occured in 1974 (1973 1/2) when the '49ers were introduced. Most of the three digit knives became the new '49ers.

Well, the blade probably is. And the undyed handle may have been intended for a 147. And it likely did come from the Schrade factory. Maybe someone diddled the assembly on lunch break, maybe not. You best bet is to make up a long, interesting story to go with the knife (signed Aesop), frame it together with the certificate and knife, and offer it back on eBay, or returned to the seller if not satisfied.
