When do slipjoints/traditionals excel

Traditional folders cut better than tactical folders, though I like both. I've carried a peanut and 805 TSEK together for months. Many times, the TSEK was used because it was more accessible. However, I've used the peanut (since retired) to cut things the TSEK physically could not cut. If Benchmade offered the TSEK with a 1/16" thick blade with a full flat grind made of 52100, CV, or similar steel, I'd be all over it. But nearly all tactical folders are at least twice as thick with half or 3/4 height saber grinds. It's just hard to out cut a full flat grind on 3/64" or 1/16" stock. Aside from cutting ease, I also prefer full flat grinds because it's easier for me to regrind them when they get too thick. I reground that peanut at least twice, once to full convex, then back to flat.

What's this I hear about Benchmade getting into more traditional shapes with newer materials?
