When has your edc flashlight come in extreme handy?

i carry a preon 2 in my pocket everyday, im an electrician so i can always use a light when it goes out lol

I use my Fenix LD22 four days a week. I work late shift and have to lock down a building big enough to hold 12,000 people at 10:30 every night, which includes checking the exterior perimeter where coyotes aren't uncommon. :p

Back when I EDCed a Fenix P2D Q5 I ended up killing my ATV's battery at 2am about 10 miles from home. I slept in the woods and P2D helped all throughout the night. I didn't get much sleep because of a few reasons, one being that I had surprisingly drove up about 15ft from the rear of a black bear earlier. A helmet works great as a makeshift pillow except your hearing is severely muffled.

I carry a Preon Revo SS on my keychain, (plus an Arc AAA UV whose battery I can cannibalize), I've got a IluminaTi with a lithium battery with my Leatherman in my backpack plus a spare battery, and if I'm riding my bike, I've got my 500 lumen bike light (Serfas) with spare battery (USB rechargeable). Plus my cell phone's camera flash LED.

When do I use them? All the time. I work nights except for one morning, so most of my waking hours are spent in the dark. My Preon gets constant use. A few years ago I used to carry a 1x123A light, but AAA lights these days are brighter than those were, and I find that it's enough for what I need. And if I need brighter, there's my bike light. The LED on my cell phone puts out of very useful, wide flood that isn't blinding, yet illuminates a large area well.

While useful for general use, flashlights and spare batteries are essential this time of year (well, in a few weeks anyway) in the desert, because during monsoon season, lightning causes power outages all the time.

EDC lights were my gateway drug into guns, knives and MTs, and I find a light the most useful of any of them. I use my light several times a day, largely because my house is pretty dark.

Streamlight ProTac 2AAA, feeding on Eneloops.

One day, I had my car parked in front of my evening school. We'd only use computers on that day, so I left my backpack lying in my car.
When I came back, I found my car window smashed and my backpack stolen. There wasn't anything in it besides books and other school stuff, so I figured they would toss it as soon as they found out. I used my flashlight to look around and soon found my backpack lying in a brush nearby.

I also use it to work on my motorcycles when it gets dark (no lights in my garage sadly) and when power goes out.
Fenix EO5 on my keychain and Fenix LD10 on my belt. I always keep a few spare batteries in my SPEC-OPS pocket organizer

I have several small fenix and foursevens lights I rotate through and use them every day. I program, set up, and test cut cnc mills so I am constantly using my lights to get a better look at things in the machines.

All the time. I had to receive a battery jump for my car the other day. The guy giving me the jump sadly did not know where his battery was located in his minivan(at night). It was a bit hidden under an intake duct. My Streamlight Nano(bad a** little light) which I keep along with my mini leatherman in my cargo shorts pocket did the trick. If I need something brighter, I keep a Four Sevens Preon 2 in my EDC bag. It has the new LED with 190 lumens output on high running off two AAA batteries. I keep 2 spare batteries for it also.

I carry a fenix LD15. That thing is constantly in use. At work it comes out when I forget my head lamp or main light in the truck, at home it helps me see my keys to open the door and everywhere else it comes in handy when its dark and there is unfamiliar footing or unseen objects hanging in my line of sight.

My E2D LED has been in my pocket every day for the last 5 years. The biggest save they day moment I had was While I was at my cousins wedding, a 2.5 hour drive away from home, and my brother locked his only set of keys inside his jeep.... We didn't find out until about 11:30pm when we were getting ready to leave. The surefire was able to light up the inside of the jeep and as a bonus we used my leatherman to take off his antenna and bend it into a hook to grab the keys which were on the drivers side floor. It only took about 15 minutes and was much better than breaking his window or calling the police for a slim jim.

I carry a Fenix E11 daily. Use it most often to check oil level in the wife's car, my truck or the tractor. It's handy both for reading the oil level and for replacing the oil dipstick when I'm finished.

Most often use the low setting . . . provides plenty of light and the single AA battery lasts a long time.

Fenix PD20 and Jetbeam. Work at night and use them every single day. Always handy to have a light. Always.

I use my flashlight more that I use my knife. I gather samples and equipment from rather dark, poorly lit garages, storage rooms, etc... Primarily used in searching or scavenging.

I have used it when movie theater forget to turn on the house lights when seating guests.

I've also used it to signal friends to come to my locations at dark events.

I prefer CR123A flashlights. The are brighter, more compact, and the body of the flashlight can be held just as a roll of quarters would in a battle of fisty-cuffs.

Flashlight is by far the most useful tool I carry. I find myself carrying it even in full daylight when I used to have not expected to need it. You never know when your going to need to look into a dark closet for something, or any number of extraneous situations in which there is no other replacement for light. I've got a slightly larger Quark QTAsomething and a Fenix LD12 that both satisfy my needs just fine.

I carry the Fenix LD22 in my pocket. I use Streamlight recharge-ables at work.

I like using my EDC light to help me look for things. Even when the lights are on I like using the flashlight because the beam focuses my attention on small areas. Helps to keep my search focused and methodical.

I use my quark mini x 123 all the time. Last night was walking to my car from the train station through a very dark neighbourhood. Couldn't see anything so I used my mini.

Also on the safety committee at work. Part of my job is clearing our floor during fire and earthquake drills. They gave me a really terrible wal mart torch. I use my quark instead. 210 max OTF lumens from a light that is the size of my thumb.

Other than my day to day uses with my Fenix PD32, it once warded off a fella who decided to get... hands on with me in an effort to acquire my wallet when I was walking home from work one night when I lived in Downtown Boston.
