When is a short fixed blade better than a large/sturdy folder for bushcraft/survival?

anytime theres a "bushcraft" or "survival knife" thread, they do tend to get a bit derailed :D

Lee is correct. Its because "survival" is silly. Its just "camping" people, "camping." Your grandpa did it with a pocketknife.

Just not the OP of this thread.

Ah yes, an awesomely passive aggressive "Stick to the topic!" post! Well played.

Let's ask a hugely subjective question, change the parameters constantly, and then expect a short concise, on-point answer! Those threads always go well.

I don't believe I made an imperative statement.

Are you actually chastising me for commenting on a comment in the thread I started?

I'm really, REALLY, really sorry about that, guy.

Hey, this thread is now about fillet knives! Everyone post your fillet knife picks so I won't be accused of being uptight. Or whatever else you want to post about any topic!

Hey, I noticed that too guy!

Once you open a thread, it rarely remains in your control. Its how the game works.

Yup.

Now there are the folks who go practice survival. And they always want a good knife for it. That doesn't make sense. If you are practicing you should have a bad knife. Its like practicing for a marathon by driving 26 miles a day.

I think I heard a story somewhere that Chuck Yeager would practice survival with a Vic Classic.

Just think if the Apollo program tried this approach.

This. For such an old member, he sure doesn't seem to have gotten that memo! LOL

I made no demands. I replied on topic to what appeared to be a post about the topic. I have also made replies to posts that were off topic.

Is there some sort of code English in use that I need to be aware of? Or are you one of those guys that goes after spelling mistakes, too?

Most times.

Nope, what's actually happened here is that you are taking my posts entirely too seriously. I chalk it up to you not being around here much. In General, we have fun, and it's a laid back group of guys and gals. Making comments (which you did) that allude to "keep comments on topic" are seen as the one making them being a little uptight. So, true, there IS a code here, but you seem not to be aware of it. But hey, whatever guy. I'll bow out of this thread, because it's clear that there are some panties in a real bunch...

And they aren't mine. Good day.

As a guy who goes after spelling, I would like to thank you for selecting the correct 'to/two/too' in your post.
