I think that bugging out and giving up absolutely everything you have been acustomed to would not be as fun as we might think. Romantic in some ways yes but a difficult life is what they lived.
Lt. Hiroo Onoda held out in the Philipine jungles till 1974. His book was very interesting on how they scavanged materials, stored ammo in old whiskey bottles sealed with pine sap, and made bamboo shelters to sleep off the ground.
The Asian peoples seem to have a closer feel for nature that we could learn from.

He's been living in the woods for at least 20 years. He only took what he needed and never left a mess of the camps he broke into.
