When using your knife, what makes ya smile?

I had the pleasure the other day of holding a sword, well, a Kris, that was about 25 inches long, just the blade that is, but it was so perfectly balanced, it felt like very little in your hand. That's amazing, isn't it?

No offence Frank, but I think your priorities are all mixed up.
I smile whenever I get to sit down and eat a big juicy steak, and especialy if that butterknife they give you as a poor excuse for a meat cutter will cleanly part it.

I know what you're trying to say. Great steaks really don't need a really sharp knife. But adding that blade anyway, well . . . just try it!

The look on someones face when they "get it"

Getting up every morning and "clipping in", knowing that I have plenty of cutting power close at hand.

The smooth action of a Military.

The "contrary to intellect" grip of my Moran.

The genius of the thumb hole.

The look on someones face when ther knife goes from "butterknife dull" to "hair harvesting keen"

Knives, what else need be said.

I love it when in the group of guys you happen to be with at the time, somebody says, "anybody got a knife I can borrow?" I hand him mine, and after eaisly doing the job at hand, he looks up with that look on his face and says, "man, that thing is sharp!"

I always find myself grinning when I use one of my knives to open the new box of knives that UPS just delivered (today it was the BF Blue Native and sheath)…

A LARGE GUTPILE !!!
Sorry if this sounds a bit politically incorrect, but If you are a hunter you should
appreciate this. Actually it goes a much deeper than the large gutpile statement.
First of all if you have a large gutpile laying in front of you, obviously you were a successful hunter. Once you have managed to field dress, skin, quarter, disjoint, bone out and cape a large tasty game animal (like an elk) without having to take your favorite blade to a hone, its bound to make you smile.

Attaboy, Tim! Well, said!

. . . and your Spydie design has given me more than a couple smiles as I "field dressed" a steak or two.

One thing I didn't mention in my first post. I always have at least two knive on me. One that I don't mind loaning, and one I NEVER hand over to someone I don't know well enough!

What makes me smile is the expression of surprise on people's faces when they cut something with a knife I've lent them. It's that classic "damn, that's sharp" look on their faces.

Cruising the backwoods and logging roads of Mt. Adams, Washington (State) in my 4x4 just after the snow has almost all melted. I'm the only one anywhere near. The road is littered with trees from the snowfall. Most of them are 4-6 inches thick. The bigger ones stay put. I haul out my Tops Anaconda 7 and commence to weed wacking.I don't know which feels nicer; seeing the blade work this way or simply finishing the job and driving on further.

You get a feeling that says 'That'll do" when you use this big honking blade. That's what a knife is supposed to do.I like it.

You guys hit it on the head. Slicing a thick steak like it is butter makes me smile every time.
