When will Spyderco offer stonewashed blades?

Well, you're entirely wrong, but whatever.

Well that's.... just....like................your..........opinion....man. The Dude abides.

Anywho I didn't see anyone say the are cheap "looking", they said they are cheap to produce.

They are.

The Deacon was far from rude, if he is such what do you call the previous posts mon frie?

Everyone is entitled to their own EDUCATED opinion, they are however not entitled to ignorance.

There is no accounting for taste, the man does not like them, he cannot be wrong in that regard. You may disagree, but that does not make you right.

Wasn't talking about the blade finish anymore.
I was talking about his interpretation of my tone, in which he WAS entirely and completely wrong.
I know since it was me doing the typing, so I know what tone was imparted.

I'm past caring about the finish thing anymore.

I'd buy a stonewashed frn ffg Endura in a heart beat I just don't care for an overly shiny blade.

"Why?
Do you think they look cheap (like how the Sebenza and Umnumzaan look cheap?)
Do you think they look like no attention to quality was paid (like how inferior the CRK line of knives are?)
Do you hate how the finish hides some of the scratches from use?
Why?"

I see you:implying he needs to justify his personal opinions, putting a lot of words in his mouth, using the fact that CRK knives uses the finish to somehow imply he's "wrong"and that stonewashing is superior, using it to imply he thinks CRK is "cheap" or "low quality", and mentioning it in a sarcastic way (tell me the stuff you put in parentheses isn't meant to be sarcastic? what is it then?).

Sorry, dude, but "entitled" was the perfect word to describe your post. No one asked you to justify why you have a preference for stonewashed blades, so why does he have to justify his? and Deacon never said they look cheap (actually, no one did, they said that Sal, someone who I believe has a bit more experience producing knives than you, said that it is cheaper to do than satin finish). So whether you meant to or realize it or not, you did come off as entitled and somewhat combative.

Ok, fine.
Maybe I don't get the combative "tone" of words over the internet; in person I generally use body language to indicate combativeness.:D

Still don't see the entitlement issue. At all.

Implying that your opinion is the "right" one and asking someone to justify their own opinion/tastes would be the main things that come off as entitled IMO. Plus, there is undeniably a lot of sarcasm in it (unless you actually think CRK knives are cheap), and a lot of putting words in his mouth.

Not trying to drag out the issue, just trying to clarify it from my point of view as best I can.

I could care less about stonewashed blades as well.

Sorry, dude. Looks like you done projected a wee bit in your OP. :foot:

Sorry if I came across like a jerk (something I seem to have a knack for..)
I actually was attempting to get people's reasons for disliking the stone-washed finish, and yes, thinking it's ugly is a valid reason.
But apparently it didn't come across that way.

The interwebs does not express many aspects of human communication well. Personally I think I got what stabman was going for, but its hard to tell without a proper tone. AKA live and let live.

I've been brooding on this one, and man, I would love to see a para2 in stonewash...but stonewash delica or native would not be cool at all.

As I said, I find it unattractive and would prefer to buy something which may become unattractive if I mistreat it to something that looks unattractive straight out of the box. One possible reason I dislike stonewashed is that the mottled look reminds me of galvanized steel, which I associate with garbage cans and wash tubs. Not exactly high end items. There are those who've said the base model Manix 2 is stone washed but it looks more like it's bead blasted to me and is much nicer looking because it's an even finish. The only Spyderco I've had my hands on that I'm certain was stone washed was a SWICK, which had that galvanized steel look.

The fact Chris Reeve uses it is irrelevant. He is an excellent machinist but he is also a very savvy businessman. His knives use top grade materials, and are assembled with extreme precision, but they are also studies in simplicity.
