When you get a new knife, after checking it out, do you tweak it?

I usually add some mineral oil on the pivot point and move the pocket clip for left hand carry.

I always remove the pocketclips from folders and I hate bad jimping on my small fixed blades so I tweaked it on a few with a file or dremel:

Cool!

That is some SWEET jimping!!! I want/need to do something similar on my Paklite Skinner.

first day:
--play with the pivot until i figure out how tight it should be
--over-tighten it slightly, then open and close it a bunch to wear it in

day 2+:
--take it apart
--clean everything
--put a mirror polish on the washers
--lube the pivot with hoppe's #9 or boeshield t-9 (depending on the knife's use)
--put it together, sometimes with blue threadlocker
--open and close it a few times to get the lube situated well

For SAKs I grind the tip off to make it like a sheeps foot. On frame/liner lock I might remove the clip if I have the right tools.

Other than re-profile and sharpen and adjust I have no set routine. But every knife gets something, some get lots!

Depends. May or may not add a lanyard, but will usually sharpen and reprofile if necessary.

I always tweak a new knife's pivot to make sure it's as perfectly adjusted as it could be. Sometimes I've had to tweak the edge to make sure that there's no burr or rolled edge from the factory sharpening, but not recently. I'll tighten up the pocket clip if it seems unsecure too. But I won't disassemble it from the get-go. Pretty much any knife I own, if it can be disassembled, will eventually get disassembled to give it a thorough cleaning/relubing (warranty be damned), but that's after time and use, when it needs it.

New knives get washed thoroughly with soap and hot water. The pivot is adjusted or lubed if needed. The blade is sharpened if needed.
