When you "know" what you want, but can't pull the trigger (recommendation thread)

I have a George/Elishewitz Cerberus in my cart at this very moment. I've been looking for this particular knife for a long time and it finally showed up. My credit card info has been entered. All I have to do is hit the "Check Out" button but I just can't quite pull the trigger yet.

I hate it when that happens.

Leather strop worked some kind of voodoo magic on the large 21 I just got. That said, I'm a huge fan of the Kershaw Blur at the moment in upgraded steel options.

I might get a Southard next. Ugly as sin but it looks comfy! Big fan of Kizer's stuff too. Great knives in that $100-$250 range.

get a sebenza and use it. i have had a couple hundered knives and once i got a sebenza i sold off most of them. now i only have about 7 or 8 and am content (for the most part..)

Figured it out.

All options were good. So I left it up to fate.

Made a chart, and like a dork put my fate on the roll of a 20 sided die.

Sebenza it is. Thanks guys.

I guess I'll see. I ordered one as the die commanded me to

This is a great way to do it, I am impressed!

Thanks for the laugh, this should be a sticky on 'how to choose a knife' !

the 562 cf is available at Knifeworks

Cool.

But the die has been cast, literally. I'll end up with one eventually. In a few months there could be some used one as people who can't figure out why their soft stones can't get it sharp.

haha great way to decide! and if you dont like it you can sell it for not much less than you paid. the looks, rock solid lockup, simple dissasembly, titanium frame, nice edc size... the more you use it the more youll like it!

I think he is referring to the m390 blade steel being too hard to sharpen on a soft whetstone.

That was my interpretation as well, it depends on the stone though.

It does. The high carbide steels get people with old soft stones complaining that the steel can't take a good edge (like D2's rep) and it's a bad steel /knife due to their equipment not the steel / knife

New knife day.

This is the knife the 20 sided die chose for me and the knife that freed her from her cardboard prison

So far I like the fit and finish. Carries very well which is nice as I plan on it taking up some time in my rotation. It came sharp but not scary sharp. A few passes on my diamond laden strop and it started to pop.

We'll see how it goes before I put my edge on it
