I have owned 3 x Becker Bk-5 camp knives in the last 10 years. Two I gifted to others early on, wanted to spread the great service they can provide. Kept one for myself which unfortunately I somehow lost in the last few months, or possibly was stolen doing some work on remote sites last year. Imagine my devestation when I discover I cant just buy another one. I hadnt been checking in on the knife scene the last few years as I only use a few knives and wasnt expecting it to be discontinued . Anyone know why becker cancelled such a great knife or is just me who thought it was?I even stuck a couple of pigs with it on a dog assisted hunt. Couldnt even find one on classifieds. I guess any owners are holding on theirs real tight now.

They were discontinued a few years ago...long enough that, as you noticed, they don't show up for sale very often. When they do get posted, they get snatched up pretty quickly.
Why did it get discontinued? Slow sales.
I might have an extra - I'll take a look later

The Ka-Bar Becker Bk5 is my favorite , not really sure why it was discontinued . Photo for those that haven't seen one.

At one point, they were around $55 shipped. It’s my favorite BK knife, wish they’d bring it back.

Please remember, all discussion of commerce goes to the "Exchange" or private messages...

I have lost two knives in my lifetime. When I was a kid, I had two smaller, probably cheapo knives crammed into one large sheath. I thought I looked cool walking around with that thing hanging on my side. Well, I ended up losing my sheath and both knives. I was so heartbroken, I looked everywhere, but never did find them.

I'm not sure if it's an option for you, but I'm sure one of our talented resident knife makers could cook something up for you. David Mary David Mary makes a fine camp knife...

M mickb I lost a Spyderco Resilience. Right out of my pocket. After I had replaced the factory clip with a Ti deep carry clip, and reground the blade to be thinner behind the edge with a Millie style tip. Thankfully, the model was not only not discontinued, but they even made upgraded versions which I now carry. Definitely a maker on here could make you a version of that knife in better materials, and with all the changes you have ever wanted to see to the design (if any, that is). I hope you can find the knife you want!

I was very graciously gifted one from 1066vik 1066vik , so it now is one of my most cherished.

It is certainly a bummer that they are not readily available.

There was some conversation about the top swedge not being necessary, but I have found it actually thins down the overall thickness of the knife, and makes it perform even better at cutting.

I promised Erik some deer jerky too, and I apologize for not sending any. There has been serious drought for a while and a TB outbreak. Getting clean meat has been more challenging.

Thanks for the replies fellas including the condolences and offers of assistance with other Bk-5 or custom work. Realized there isnt anywhere showing my location as I am not in North America. Being in Australia not sure how international shipping would work and dont want to put anyone through that hassle. Got me thinking though, maybe some custom knife guys over here....

International shipping is only a minor hassle, in the form of extra paperwork. The problem is it hard for individuals to know what will make it through any particular country's customs.

As a fixed blade maker, I have so far not had any packages go missing which I sent from where I live in Canada to Australia. Out of probably a dozen packages I sent there so far, one was held up in Australian Customs longer than normal, but finally made it where it was supposed to go. The rest were within the expected time frames.

I've not owned one but Winklers hunting and/or skinning knives look similiar to me. The steel 80crv2 iirc would be superior too but obviously more expensive.
