When you need a sheath

With this loose belt loop addresed I have no issues with the function of this sheath, but I really just don't like how bulky it is.
It works but every time I draw my 112 from it I find myself thinking this sheath could be better.
I went looking on etsy for some kind of aftermarket open top sheath since I'm not usually up for much leatherwork during the hot months, and I didn't really see any left handed options I was interested in.
I was about to quit looking when I saw these , it's not an open top but it just really caught my eye.
It reminds me of an old Honer harmonica case that my dad had gifted my grandfather a long time ago.

It's a very nice clean looking sheath that should age beautifully, seems pretty low profile, and it has the exact type of belt loop that I prefer.

at one time not all that long ago....the 110 sheaths used to be made with the belt loop like that. I always preferred the Mexican made ones with that style belt loop.

I remember that being discussed and people preferring the larger loop style for how they sit a little off body on the hip.
On this 112 auto sheath which I swear was looser than my 2012 110 sheath it kept shifting around on my belt which is what I really didn't like.

They're much easier to get on and off the belt, but I want anything on my belt to stay exactly where I put it.
With few exceptions, the loop style of belt loop ( I should ask the BF's sheath makers if there are different terms ) doesn't stay put too well.

Over Bucks long history the shieth has evolved just like the knifes have. I would personally love to see Skyler's collection of early Custom Shop sheiths. Many one of one knives have beautiful unusual shieths. Back around 2011-2014 I displayed odd Factory 112 versions.. I'll try and find some pictures later today.
I like a open top for the 112 and for years used one on stage to help manage my mike cord playing Harp. Unless you really have a active outdoor lifestyle a good fitting open top keeps your knife secure very easy to access and return with no fumbling with the flap and snap..

I ordered a couple of slips from that seller. One for the 112 and one for the 110. They are really nice! I didn't realize he was from Ukraine until after I ordered.
That's good news.
The quality certainly looked very good in the pictures.

I received my sheath and am very happy with it on first impressions.

It obviously needs to break in, but even as is brand new it's easy to work with.
it's easy to open the flap to draw the knife with one hand as well as return the knife and secure the flap with one hand.
It may not be quite as convenient as pushing on a snap when the flap naturally returns home from memory, but it's not bad at all and I never have to worry about metal hardware gouging up the bolsters.

I'd definitely recommend checking one of these out from VitaliLeathers on Etsy if you feel like trying something a bit different.

I made this sheath for my V7V3 110, although I still have the original.
The design was copied from an old M9 bayonet pouch, but with a few differences.
Firstly, it has two belt loops on the back so I can carry it lengthways on my belt.
Secondly, I've added a figure 8 loop on the side, one to carry a little ferro rod,
the other has a ceramic coated alloy rod (from an old Ontario USMC scabbard)
for blade touch ups out in the sticks if needed.
