Grab the biggest knife and ask about it?
Do they notice the handle color first?
Fixed blades or folders?
Do they pull them out of the sheaths and
say, Wow!!! I like that one!!

I stopped showing people my knives because of the super retarded things they do to them. One of my buddies who happen to also be a knife guy makes it a ritual to claw at the scale with his finger nails to feel the "texture" and proceeds to tap the blade... also with his finger nails. I've had two others who pushed the lockbar in instead of out when they were trying to close the blade.

Most think I'm a bit strange for having so many knives. Only a small few (3 or 4) understand.

Chris.

Dont really show my friends my collection. Pretty much keep my hobby to myself. Other than that my bestfriend knows how to handle my stuff. He's on the higher end of knives.

Around here, if you talk about your knife collection, people automatically think Case.

The only person who really appreciates my Busse collection is the knife dept manager at a large independent outdoor sports store who bought one of my Busses and uses it.

my friends and family know and somewhat understand my interest in knives. They look at them hold them, and generally appreciate them for what they are. When we go camping or hiking, then I let them USE them and then they finally understand WHY :)

I always have to show people SOME of my collection. Most want to see that I really make knives for a living. :D

They pass over all the good, quality knives with out saying anything, then they pick up the most tacticool piece of crap lying around and say, wow you could really kill someone w/ this. LOL, I just laugh and say, yeah thats what the navy seals use... just figure thats what they want to hear.

My friends were over my knives years ago. They are like "oh god he got another one he wants to show us now"

all my friends want to trade me out of mine. :)

I don't have a "collection", but what I do have I don't show many people other than my kids. News travels fast if you have anything worth anything, and we have a lot of theft in our area nowadays. Everybody that knows me, knows I always have an edged tool on me. So I do do a lot of knife chores for others and sharpen anything they have. Especially at work.

I'm done showing my collection. Most people are either freaked out or they tell me I'm stupid for buying a knife that cost so much and I'm a idiot for having so many. And most of them just act stupid and talk about killing and chopping bodies. That bothers me and that's not why I have them for.

If you want to drink on your own in the pub and never have any visitors to your house .... mention you have a "knife collection" over here ... :D

That's the truth!

Although I did show some to a few work colleagues once. We got to discussing doing a survival course and that led to one of them saying that he always wanted a Buckmaster survival knife. One thing led to another...

The best comments I got were from a visual effects engineer who really appreciated my BA-III and the mirror-polished, stropped edges on the knives. The guy who wanted the Buckmaster still wanted one even after seeing the Busses and some gentle hints about the difference in quality. Each to his own.

It drives me nuts when a b person tries to tell me that their lesser brand is just as good as my Busse kin.
I've tried the lesser brands and there is a reason I switched. They will be begging for one of my knives when they break theirs off in a zombie's skull ;)
