When's the last time you gave a knife as a gift?

Christmas. One of our Firefighters was killed while working a second job last September. Some of his hunting buddies asked if I would make his 8 year old son a knife. They brought a shed antler from one of their hunting spots and I made a hunting knife. The guys from his old engine company brought the boy and his mom to the station and presented him with the knife. Sometimes we kinda forget how fortunate we are.

It was a few days ago. I gave my lovely wife a purple (It's her favourite colour....) semi-serrated Mini-Griptilian. She loves it.

PS: I ensured that she gave me a silver coin for it.

Yesterday,

I gave my father-in-law a Spyderco Dyad Jr. These are nice little knives. The dual blade configuration makes them useful for many tasks and they ride easy in the pocket.

For Christmas I gave my younger cousin (19) a SOG Seal 2000 which he thought was the coolest knife ever made. He loves watching the special ops shows on Discovery channel and anything that has to do with Navy SEALs, Green Berets, or Army Rangers.

This was his first knife ever and he now wants to go hunting and camping even more just so he can use his knife alot :).

We are giving my uncle a Leatherman Pulse for his birthday tomorrow. He is doing quite a bit of hiking, boating, and bicycling in his retirement, and I thought it would be a good companion for the Buck Crosslock I got him several years ago.

I began buying knives for my boys (ages 4 yrs. and 5 mo.) while they were still in the womb! I try to buy for them on their birthdays and Christmas.

Christmas '02 I gave my brother my Buck/Strider Solution. He is SWAT and was in need of a good FB for his gear. I miss that knife, but get alot of satisfaction knowing that it is in good hands.
