Where are there NY knife knife shops?

I live in NY. I am wondering if there were any shops in the NY area that had a LARGE selection of knives to "play with." There are so many knives that I am interested in buying online... but I don't want to buy them without at least handling them first.

I am interested in the middle of the road knives.... examples: Cold Steel, Ka Bar, SOG, etc.

Does anybody know any place?
 
If you are close to the City then you can go to Paragon sports on 18th and Broadway, they have a great selection including many high end customs. Out on the Island there is a place in Seaford called Knives and Swords on Sunrise Hwy that has a nice selection of those knives that you listed.
 
Victorinox in the Westchester Mall in White Plains has a lot of benchmades, kershaws, crkts, and some spydies that you can play with.
 
For the knife companies you mentioned, see if you can find some local Army/Navy stores or even guns and ammo shops around. They may have what you want to look at.

For higher end stuff, you will need a better shop.
 
Don' t hesitate to check out local gun/ knife shows. Often times there are dealers there with good quality production pieces. Haven' t been out to any recently, but check out shows at Westchester Convention Center, Mid Hudson Civic Center, Orange County Fairgrounds, Greenburg, etc. You may even find a decent selection at The Sports Authority, WalMarts, etc.

If in the "city", visit www.nyironworks.com located right behind NYPD Headquarters, 1 Police Plaza. ;)
