I was looking for katana swords sale and I found this wonderful site. I'm not sure of the quality or origin of their offers. Has anyone looked at this before? If you have other options you know are worth the time to check , please posted here . Thank you !

Hello, I guess it depends on what you want and what you expect of one....If you just want a backyard cutter then I would suggest something in 9260 or 1060, 1045 (not traditionally folded) http://www.chenessinc.com/

If you want something more it could make a short answer a very long one so here is a good place to start. http://www.bugei.com/tenthings.html:)

If your just getting started, you have opened Pandoras box.:D

I have about 40 katanas ranging from musashis to bugei and a few even higher end (not bragging, just letting you know I have some idea what I'm talking about ;)). I do NOT recommend the site you show. Try Kult of Athena and SBG store; both have wide assortments of quality katanas in most reasonable price ranges. Good luck. :D

Sorry to go off topic a bit, but it is still a bit relevant. Many years ago a maker here on BF created a katana with 3V steel. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen.it was straight if I remember correct, rather than curved blade. Something that substantial would be pretty interesting to put to use and say tinker in a back yard with some 2x4s. I've admired swords from China and Japan for a long time, the craftsmanship that went into them centuries ago was the lure for me.

Neat! I remember the Howard Clark L6 being the holy grail for me, and still is... http://www.legacyswords.com/fs_gen_sword18.htm His signature on the nakago reads “Big Ear”

Kilt of Athena and the SBG store are both great options.

If you want a real cutter I would also recommend cheness. I had an SGC a while ago and it was a MONSTER.

If you want something that can cut and then totally hold its own on a display stand as well, anything from Ronin Katana is highly recommended. They make some beautiful, durable and usable blades at a great price considering what you get.

Happy hunting! Let us know what you get!

Bugei.com

Not only the best service, but a broad selection of everything you could want, from lower cost cutters to higher end customs. Expect to pay more than other places. In some cases the blade quality is comparable if not directly equal to alternatives, but the higher quality koshirae make it worth the added cost.

Dan Keffeler makes some very high quality katana with 100% modernized blades and koshirae. I don't know if he takes orders or if you're willing to wait (or willing to pay his prices), but damn...

I don't recall if it was him that made the 3V katana or if it was another maker, but that is some pretty cool stuff. Come to think of it, it was him that made the katana. There is a video cutting test demonstrating it, talk about sweet cutting power. Completely different league than a .250" thick sharpened pry bar chopper.

That is impressive, it looks like something fun to try and make. I think the history is the most fascinating for me personally, it's just cool to learn about the carious clans, families, and traditions that spanned so many generations. I am an anthropology nut, so I dig this stuff.

From Japan.

I sexually identify as a Katana. Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of being in the hands of a sweaty old weaaboo, stabbing people with my sharp appendage. People say to me that a person being a katana is impossible and I'm retarded but I don't care. I'm beautiful. You people cannot determine what I am or what I should be. I will not conform to your ideals. It's too late for that. I'm having a plastic surgeon replace my arms with steel blades. From now on I want you guys to call me "Odachi" and respect my right to help people commit seppuku and kill needlessly. If you can't accept me you're a katanaphobe and you need to check your weapon privilege. Thank you for being so understanding.
