Just be sure to get the real deal. There are many companies manufacturing a cheaper version of paracord that has no real internal structure. Instead of the inner woven strand structure that signifies true paracord, these knock-offs are filled with a type of foam substance. Thus, the strength of the imposter brands is limited to the strength of the nylon covering material.

I got a 100 yd. spool from Brigade Quartermasters. I looked at the guts and they do have the color-coded strand.

Note the color-coded strand. Someone once told me that that strand supposedly denotes which company made the cord. YMMV.
