Where can I find direware overbuiltedness <$400?

My 0350m390 appears to be a very strong knife with the premium steel. I ve de assisted mine and it works fine as a manual flipper and regular stud opener. As for the recurve, I dont find any difficulty sharpening it and there is a cutting advantage for the recurve blade . Somewhat small for an overbuilt knife with a 3.25 in blade but it carries well and slices very well. Great buy. I also like my 551 but the edge retention on the 0350 is much better and it seems to be just as strong.

The variance in the de-assistability of ZT knives has put me off of the whole idea. I recently purchased (and returned) an 0566 that had no detent drilled whatsoever. You literally could not de-assist it. My first 0566 went off-center and was a poor flipper as a manual. Eh. I don't trust it. I'll just wait for the 2014 lineup. Bearings and M390 and production prices! Oh my.

I second ramzars recommendation of the three sisters forge beast.

Stout, full ti folder with a nicely executed clip point and its definitely more knife than you'll likely need.

I suppose it doesn't fit your criteria of steel, but it's one extremely "overbuilt", or solid looking, folder (And one of the few framelocks with stainless steel.) :

If by overbuilt you also mean durable, solid, I think you would need to look at tri-ads, axis locks, maybe button locks, and such, as the framelock and linerlock mechanism would most likely be a weak point regardless of how strong the rest of it is.

Extrema Ratio RAO is one example, but to get its overbuilt qualities, you would need to use the pin-screw every time you'd want to use it - so, it lacks the ease of use of a "traditional" folder.

Here's an overbuilt one. Nice steel, too. Chop-saw it in half and put a sturdy hinge on it and it's a folder. :D

What are you intending on doing with the knife, exactly?

0560CFCB? S110V in a flipper with a CF presentation side. 330-380 NIB from collectors on the exchange. Mine has yet to be sharpened but cuts well enough with the factory edge. Shaved hair when first it arrived.

jac_solar I'm with ya man. The Schrade 300 series is over built and well in any ones price range. I bought two of them so I always have a sharp one near by in spite of the less than stellar blade steel. The blade is plenty good for my needs.

Cool. How have they worked out? Could you elaborate on your experience with them?

I dont think the satu is a light weight s30 will do just fine with that thickness. I have a strider db s30 and have stabbed through all kinds of things. But demkos you can get different steels. From maker around 550 575. Other than that your gonna have to pony up and spend some $$ to get what you want.

check with dalibor he's sells his for cheap and are just as good I think. big beefy over built i believe around 400-500

Sorry about the late response to your questions jac_solar, I hadn't checked out this thread in awhile. I'm happy with the 300 series of mine. Although I have not taxed them to their limits, they have yet to let me down when asked to do a task. They do offer an air of confidence what with the abundant amount of steel used in their construct. I cannot speak as of yet to their durability long term, but I have already gotten my monies worth from them.
