Just made a big chopper with 5160 and was very impressed with the edge sharpness and strength.I've got plenty of 1/4" x 1-1/2" but would like some thicker stuff to play with.

You could also try pacific machinery and tool steel in Portland Or. They have a great selection of 5160. I do not have a current list but you could call them to find out what they have. Their website is pretty useless.

Thanks everyone.

What would the H specification stand for? I got my last 5160 from Riverside Machine.

R.H.
The "H" designation means that the steel was made to
meet certain hardenability requirements.....alloy tollerances
more tightly controlled.
