Where can I physically purchase Spyderco's and other "high end" knives?

Hi all,

Pretty new here though I've been lurking for awhile. So I've been collecting seriously for maybe a year now. My collection is mostly Buck, Kershaw, SOG, couple Gerbers and a US Army KA-BAR. Now I've been looking at all the major stores near me but cannot find Spyderco (which I've never even held one but because of BF now I "need" one lol) or any other knives such as Emersons, ZT's, Benchmade's, etc. I can't really order online due to me owing my roommate money which I am paying back but if he sees I bought a $200 knife he'll be upset. I don't need a lecture on the ethics of my situation, we agreed on a repayment plan and I'm following it, nevertheless he would be mad about something like this. So do I have to wait for gun shows to get a Spyderco? I do know of a knife store about 45 minutes from me but they're ridiculously overpriced and that's an understatement. I guess my question is do any big chain stores carry Spyderco and other pricier knives? Cabela's is a hike but if they have them I'd make the trip gladly. I don't trust websites anymore since I went to a gun stores website, saw a huge variety of all kinds of knives. Turns out they had about 6 different knives for sale. Was a little mom and pop shop that had a website advertising it as an outdoors warehouse. I was crushed when I walked in all giddy thinking I was about to get my first Spydie and first "premium" steel. :(

Thanks and glad to be here. Sorry if this is on the wrong subforum.

Gander mountain has benchmades.

Excellent thank you. I have to go to Harrisburg on Sunday anyway and just looked up their locations and saw there is one in Harrisburg and one in York. I'll be sure to stop in and check it out. Appreciate it :)

I recommend the bm mini griptillian even though I own 90 percent spydercos. The prices are quite marked up in line with the other 2 knife dealers in my area but at least you can try them out then you could just order online if you have the patience and want to save 30 bucks

keep an eye out for gun and or knife shows in your area too.. always a good place for new stuff..pawn shops are also a good spot alot of times they dont even know what they have.

Edgeworks in Frederick, MD is a pretty good knife shop. Check it out if you're in the area.

Field and stream in Cranberry Township Carries Spyderco. pricy. Fin feather and fur carries spydies and a huge selection of BM's

My Gander Mountain had 1 benchmade the last time I was there, not a very impressive knife selection. Now there are a couple local outdoor shops near me that have ZT, Emerson, Spyderco & BM. Sometimes gun shops/ranges will carry higher end knives as well. It's really what the stores in your area think will be profitable. I would look and she what kind of brick and motor outdoor/gun shops are near you.

I just opened up Google maps on my phone and typed in hunting shops in the search and it looks like there are quite a few shops that could potentially carry nice knives in a 25 mile radius of Philly. I would just try the same search and see what is closet to you and give them a cal.

Even wal fart has them but they are only sold online. Decent prices too. and you can pick them up at site to store. Army surplus stores have them sometimes.

Cabelas in Hamburg has some. Also most local gun shops have knives too. My local gun store has an excellent selection of benchmade and other knives. That said, I could never buy a high end knife in a store knowing the price on line or here on the exchange is significantly less.

Thank you all for the responses. I've checked most of my LGS's, however there are still so many I haven't been to. I've always got my eye open for a gun/knife show but it just seems like those come around when I never have any "spare" money. Lots of places to check now. Should be a fun weekend/week. Thank you all for your help.

They just opened a Field and Stream store in Erie PA. I was just there they have many spyderco, benchmade, and ZT knives on display and in stock.
