Where did you first hear about Emerson knives?

Like DJWolf I read about Emerson knives in the now defunct FIGHTING KNIVES magazine. ( As a matter of fact I still have the magazine with that article ) . I started seing other articles in other mags about them and started to save my money. I own a small knife and gun business and saw production Emersons in the CFI dealers Catologue. I bought a CQC-7A in 1999 and the rest is history.......

...in Greg Rucka's second Atticus Kodiak novel "Finder". The thing is, Kodiak is a bodyguard who ends up going up against a rogue SAS brick, and of course, all the blokes are sporting nifty little CQC-6 knives. I just had to figure out what this knife was. I mean, if it is cool enough for the SAS, then I just had to find out what all the hype was about... ;-)

I did some 'net research, quickly realized that a 6 was not in my immediate future, just about fell for a BM Pardue tanto bladed axis lock, read all about the pro/anti emerson stuff, then found a dealer in Canada who was able to get in a waved model for me. He was willing to hand pick through his inventory to get me a good 'un as well.

Oh, yeah, and Marcinkos books are cool too. :D I love the "Cancelled Czech" shot in the first (or is it second) book where he is training up the corporate "encounter group" soldiers.

The old 'Fighting Knives' magazine. Got catalog, ordered Viper 5. After reading Dick's books and seeing an American Handgunner article, changed order to CQC-6. after recieving 6, ordered ES1-M. Anybody have a Viper 5 for sale? Wanted the Viper 5 for whitewater kayacking. -Dick

I heard about Ernie from the man himself. i was 17, broke and uneducated. it was my very first knife show. guess it was word of mouth you can say.

i own a Benchmade 975s. guess i like to own history. guess my next purchase would be CQC-6 or CQC-7(custom vesion)
