Hi guys,
I'm going to make my first real knife, a bushcrafter with A2 or O1, a scandi grind, nickel hardware and some kind of wood scales. Does anyone know the best place to buy all this stuff and leather for a sheath? I also need a heat treater, preferably in Canada.
Thanks.

Buy your steel from Aldo Bruno or Kelly Cupples, your scale wood from Delbert Ealy, the rest of your supplies you should be able to get through Tracy Mickley

Just a suggestion on steel, you have picked two of my favorites but you need to make sure your heat treater can handle the steel you chose. Here is the lower warmer areas of the world we have regualtions which prevent our HT from doing oil quench so its tough to get O1 outsourced. Thats where A2 comes in, they can do the air quench so I have all my A2 sent to Paul Bos and do the O1 myself. Another consideration is 1084 or 1095, simple steel and pretty easy to HT yourself. You may not get perfect results but you can make a pretty tough knife.

I get most of my stuff from trugrit.com, texasknifemaker.com and knifekits.com
Looked at the rangers site and it looks great as well, Ill have to give them a try.

From what I have just learned these past days, 1095 isn't a very simple steel to heat treat. I was actually just down to the Ranger Original's store in Cremona the other day. He's got a lot of good steel, and Rob Ridley, the owner, is a really nice guy to talk to if you have questions. I just wish they carried some good quenching oil for 1095.

Ranger Original ALL THE WAY!! ROB! and Marilyn will treat you right and set you up well. I have never had any kind of problem with them and Rob will even mark the HRc on your blade after heat treat. Best of all he is Canadian so you will not worry about customs or harsh shipping costs. I got Rob to HT my wedding knives, also bought the steel for them, and some of the handle material- but it is not his fault how they were finished- that is all on me!
