I'm a gun guy, so for me, gun values are easy to find. How would I find the value of an out of prouction Spyderco I'm thinking of selling?

Search the sales forums to see what it's been going for.

Even if it's been out of production, dealers might still have it in stock. What are they asking?

for a quick look at market value, do a completed items search on ebay. It will give you a rough idea of value if one has been sold recently.

Another place to get a feeling for the market is to search ebay auction results (search on auctions that have already closed). Ebay auctions have the broadest group of buyers so I would expect ebay prices to be on the high side compared to most places. There can be fraud on ebay where someone with a stockpile of an unusual type of knife hypes the price by staging phony sales. They "sell" a couple of them to an accomplice at an outrageous price to falsely set a high market history. That skews the price if you do an auction results search. The idea is to sucker follow on buyers into paying too much for knives in the crooks stockpile. They can even be the same knives since all the transactions were phony.
