I recenly tried to remove a clip from one of my spydercos with a allen wrench. After closer examination I realized that the screws are star bits. Is there a source where I can buy this particualr size. I want to get sevral of them in case one strips out.

countycomm has a star wrench on sale for a few bucks - works great with spyderco and kershaw knives as well

Torx screws? Most knives use them. I don't know many that use allen wrenches.

You can find them at Home Depot or something. Get some T-6 through T-10.

I bought the torx bits at either Sears or the evil land of Wall-Mart. I got the screwdriver inserts and the size is a T-8. You may not be able to find them individually but need to buy them in a set.

You can get this one at Home Depot for about $6.00

That Husky is a good tool. The butt swivels, which I find gives me nice control of the pressure I'm putting on those tiny screws. :)

Picked up a handful of the Husky Torx ones last time I was in the States(20 Mins. away), have them in my bag, car, toolbox, so handy to have, well worth the price.

I so wish this was in W&C Esav. :)

I don't care for the Husky tool. The bits don't go in the driver far enough to engage the detent/retention. They slide back out just as easy as they slide in. :(
I need a new/different one.

Okay I just went to Home Depot and picked up the Husky set. I switched over 5 of my new spydies to tip down carry. Seems to work fune and taking the scews out were easy. The tool retained its bit and I even have to pull on it hard to get it out. I think this was a deal for $6.00.

Why do they (SPYDERCO) install the tip up direction anyway? The early spydies I have from the 80's all came with tip down carry. I also don't like the lint getting into the moving parts when it is carried tip up.

Dunno; I also like Tip-Down for non-Wave knives. It's faster to deploy if you grab it correctly.
