Where do I get zippered pouch cases for my customs?

I don't think the cheap ones work just fine.

They do not hold the knife securely, and it WILL slide around inside the case. They are made with a very cheap foam that will rust a knife.

I put a 1000x finished bowie into a cheap case, and by the time I got it to the show, there were scratches on the blade from it sliding around, and the foam liner not being smooth.

I'm am super cheap! But even to me, it doesn't make good sense to save a few bucks with a case that won't give the best protection to a very expensive custom.

But! that's the great thing about this world, we are all free to do exactly as we like :) (within reason of course! ;) ).

They aren't fancy but work just fine. Bill makes nice cases, I have one or two.

At 20 dollars a pop I would need to spend close to $1000 on nice cases.
NO THANKS.

I probably have about $2,500 in Bill's Cases.

I'll put it this way. I used to use cheap luggage. The suits and shoes inside the bags cost thousands of dollars. Does it not make sense to pony up some cash for luggage that you KNOW will protect your expensive clothes, up to a semi running over your bags?

I used to use the cheapies, until I discovered rust on STAINLESS STEEL mirror finished blades.

I have had exactly ONE stainless steel knife rust on me since I switched to Bill's 10 years ago, and it was my fault.

I just checked his prices on BladeGallery, OOF!
I would need more like $1500 in cases.

(FYI, I only use TUMI luggage)

I wish someone would come up with a good fixed blade storage system for 50-100 knives. Now that would be cool.

:p

Me too!:D You kind of made my point for me!

For the price of one REALLY nice bowie, you get protection for your WHOLE collection.

A fixed blade grouping of 100 knives would weigh about 75 lbs. You and me, might, and Nick definitely, could carry it around, but what about the many old codgers we have collecting?:p

yeah, yeah, I know

I started supplying all my fixed blade knives with Bills custom cases when I had a couple of the points of big knives come through the end of the cheaper case while being shipped, one even came through the box and had to be repacked by the Post Office. The knives are held secure in Bills cases and do not slide around. I'm in the process of switching over to Bills for all my folder cases also, he makes a great product. I used to think he was too expensive but hey, a nice knife deserves a nice case:p Money well spent in my book.

I agree that Bill's are the best.

I would strongly suggest to anyone who wants to start using Bill's cases for their folders that instead of buying individual cases for each folder, you instead keep your folders in Bill's 6 and 12 packs. They save you money, keep all your folders together, makes your collection, or parts of it very portable, it looks much nicer, and makes the knives more accessable, they take up a lot less space, and they still protect the knives very well. I just cannot see why anyone would prefer to use individual cases once they have tried the multi-packs.

Don't do what I did, and end up with a hefty bag full of individual cases you no longer want or need, I was lucky to find a dealer who took them back towards the purchase of several of the multi-packs, and I would never go back to single cases, except of course for fixed blades, where you have no choice.

It's so neat to have, for example, a 6-pack of TnT's. :) Or a sweet, 12 pack of Microtechs, how about a 6-pack of Bradshaw folding bowies... :)

Hmmmmm, is this where I can say: "I told you so?" :)

I'm glad to hear it Don, I'll have to buy a new knife from you soon, just to make sure you're following through. :)

I was just going to add, that I had the pleasure of stopping at Bill's place on our way to BAKCA this year, and seeing his operation. He is very much the equivalent to any custom knife maker in his approach to his craft. He is a one man show, that starts with rolls and sheets of raw material. He does all the patterning, lay-out, cutting, and construction.

I have heard the Frigault cases are pretty nice, so I don't mean to poo poo on that. But of everything I've seen/used, Bill's Custom Cases are unbeatable. :D
