hey every one,
i am new member in this forum, this is my first thread.

where do you buy today knives? at one regular shop or always looking for new?
searching google, asking friends, participating in auctions...? what?

I have 4 or 5 trusted internet knife dealers I buy from as my primary sources. I will also buy or trade on the forum here and on a couple other knife forums. And I will occasionally buy from the large internet auction site -- with care. I have not bought a knife from a brick-and-mortar shop in years because there are only a couple near me, and all of them had prices FAR above the internet going rate.

I get my best deals doing constant watch lists on ebay. Sometimes get new blades for a fraction of what retail shops sell them for. I've also been watching the for sale forums on here but have yet to make a purchase. Hoping to find a nice custom on here.

I get a lot of things off the forum here. I have a local shop I get things from as well. When that fails, BladeHQ. Rarely ebay.

first of all you wont find shit (pardon my french) anywhere but the internet. i buy any knife i can find from amazon, one of the big attractions is free super saver shipping on most things. if i can't find it on amazon i look on knife center and smoky mountain knife works, in that order. good luck

I have a local source who gives me good prices and puts me on the top of his list for sprint runs and special editions. Predictably, I tend to buy from him! Other than that, I buy from the exchange here or on the USN and from Knifeworks and BladeHQ.

mostly i get my knives online from different places. i would use a brick and mortar store if thier where any near me lol!

Not always the case. Many areas have dedicated knife shops. I know of three not too far from me. I only frequent one because I have a good rapport with the owner. Gun shows can also be good places to look. There are several knife only dealers that work the shows in my area that I have had good dealings with. This is besides Military Surplus stores, gunshops, etc. you just have to hunt your area and see what shakes up.

I buy most of my knives online, prices tend to be more competitive. When my mind slips up, I overpay at big box stores. There really aren't any brick and mortar stores near me, unfortunately. There was a gun store in Brookfield, IL that had a pretty nice selection of Benchmades, but they were asking near MSRP + Cook County sales tax. Never bought from them, they closed last weekend (I think the owner passed away, family didn't want to do it anymore). There is a military surplus store in my town that sells a lot of consignment stuff, I have gotten some good deals there. Unfortunately, their selection and inventory is a little sporadic. They do have nice stuff from time to time, last time I was there someone had a couple CQC-7s up for sale.

I buy them from makers here on the forum. I have made connections so I buy directly from a couple of them in person or via email exchange, but BF was my original source.

I order online almost exclusively, and my browser has a long list of dependable dealers bookmarked.

Since I collect original (pre-2004) Old Timer knives, you aren't going to find them in many stores these days. ;) I pick them up on eBay, from other members, or other casual website whenever possible.

Custom knives I order from the makers themselves, most often from the BladeForums area "For Sale By Makers."

One exception to online shopping, there's a large (the "largest") Case knife dealer in Missouri where I stop once or twice a year as I'm passing by. I also sometimes pick up Swiss Army Knives at a large discount department store or hardware stores, wherever I find them on sale or closeout.

I find some great deals on this forum. I also buy alot from ebay mostly from sellers Ive used over and over and deff not any from overseas

first of all you wont find **** anywhere but the internet

For the record, many of the very best online dealers have physical stores too where you can shop in person, and pay the same prices as people who order online. Of course I don't have any of those dealers near me, but many forum members are lucky that way.

I buy from Knife Center, although a sports store that left for four years and suddenly returned has a pretty nice array of knives to choose from. The best part is their pricing is only at the most $10 more then what I could get online without the wait, and they have layaway so I won't get buyers remorse. There was a local own knife store that has been in the same spot and operated by the same owner for around 30 years, but he really only dealt in traditional folders.

I buy online mostly, unfortunately besides seeing a few kershaws, ka-bars, and buck 110's at local sporting good stores which tend to stock stuff I already have or have no interest in it forces me to buy online.

Some of the places I have bought from are Amazon,Arizona Custom Knives,Blade HQ, Cutlery Shoppe,Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop (but never again),Ebay,Grand Prairie Knives,Howes Knife Shop,The KershawStore,Knife Center, KnifeWorks and New Graham. I am always looking for the best price and that is where I buy. Oh and on the exchange here.
