Where do you buy Most of your knives?

On the BF for sale forums, from an on line dealer or maybe you do quite a bit of trading. Or maybe some on BF and some from a dealer.

I buy most of my knives used in very good or like new on BF. And you?

Online, usually new and from an authorized dealer, preferably a BF Member. I've made lots of trades and purchases here on the Exchange, as well. All with good results.

But, I NEVER use flea-bay or Scamazon, ever. I'll pay the extra 5-10% to know I'm dealing with a reputable dealer. But that's just me...

P.S. Howdy, Neighbor!

I have bought from just about every online source except Ebay, and have made lots of purchases and trades on the forums. I am not too picky where I buy from as long as I get a good price and good service.

Mostly online dealers. I do, admittedly, use Amazon more than I should, but I generally try to stick with BF dealers as it adds an additional layer of security to the purchase, expertise and makes it MUCH easier to request that someone look over the knife before it heads my way. Also, if I'm going to spend the money I just generally feel good about spending it with gentlemen like Whitty at USA Made Blade and Dave at kershawguy.com as well as a number of others. Makes it too easy to spend when there are class acts like that with great products that you can support. ;)

Same here. I buy from the stores that support and care about the hobby. I do not buy stuff from big box stores on online megastores.

I've been buying most knifes brand new from authorized online dealers. For EDCs and hard to find models, I recently started to buy from BF in various conditions.

I'd love to buy some knives from the exchange here but no one ever posts outside the US. So, I try not too look in there because I hate seeing really cool knives at good prices then followed by CONUS only. I guess my wallet is happy though :D I just get mine from my authorized dealer here in Brisbane. Great bloke, looks after me. And it's bonified gear..

The exchange here, and actual "knife" stores that care about this hobby.

It's a good investment to buy from places that specialize in what you love...

I usually only buy new from authorized dealers but I have picked up a few vintage slip joints from eBay. I have been saving my first sebenza purchase for the blade show where I can buy directly from the man (at least I hope so)

I suggest you send you send a PM and ask.
There may be some responsibilities that the seller will need you to take on, such as customs issues, but many members are willing to ship international as long as you are willing to except some of potential issues that they will have no control over.

Thanks brother. I've never asked because I do realise there can actually be a bit of a hassle shipping internationally. I live in Aus. and I know which knives I can bring in legally so I only ever look at the ones I would receive and that wouldn't be confiscated by Aus. customs. Recently, a good friend and forum member sent me some Beckers that had no issue getting through our customs so I'm presuming I wouldn't have any issues from other sellers here. And by no means was this a slight against the good folks who sell here. They have every right to choose where to post to or not. Hence why I don't ask. But thank you JR, I will keep this in mind in future when I see something I want. BTW, my wallet now hates you :D:D:D It thought it was safe..

Here on the exchange, local brick-and-mortars (Plaza Cutlery, Ross Cutlery, etc.), Blade HQ, Knives Ship Free, Arizona Custom, Cutting Edge (A.G. Russell's consignment site), reddit.com/r/knife_swap, and USN. That about covers it.

I prefer second hand knives , that way i dont feel so guilty about actually using them .usually from pawn shops , yard sales , garage sales , friends , family, trades . Some of my best finds have been through these venues . You never know what your gonna find and its almost always a bargan. Yeah i have a few i bought new at local hardware stores mostly or here and there sales . Usually second hand though .

Mostly gunshows and eprey. A few from the BF Exchange, but it rarely has what interests me (though the EDC in my pocket came from the BF exchange).

The vast majority of the knives I buy aren't made any longer. The companies that made them don't even exist any longer.

It depends. Lately it seems that I see something I like and then spend a little while pondering it. If a good opportunity arises to save a few bucks in the Exchange, I'll do that. Sometimes (CKF) the best option, IMO, is their website. Otherwise, I'll buy from BHQ, KSF, or Amazon.

Certain reputable online dealers mostly.
I used to buy more from the exchange, but now I would only buy from certain people I can trust.
Last time, I got ripped off by a deceptive seller who turned around and accused me of stripping the head on the pivot when I called attention to it. Conveniently he never showed that side in his pictures. I guess maybe I would do business with people not just here to make money. They even have a Pakistani dirt merchant pretending to be a knife maker, preying on the forum unmolested. Buyer beware. Despite all that, I have to believe most people are not scum.
