Where do you buy most your knives?

Over the internet. You can't beat the prices especially when local stores charge $50.00 + on mark-up.

I buy most of my custom blades on internet sites these days. The prices I find for the most part are very fair, and service has been simply excellent. For the spendy, difficult to acquire customs, I go to the Eugene Show.

I have bought, and traded for, perhaps 3 or 4 customs from forumites - all flawless transactions - and have made several genuine good friends along the way (sincerely more valued now than the knives I acquired from them).

Most of my recent purchases have been direct from the makers after finding or reading about them on this forum. :)

Before that, mostly online from KnifeCenter of the Internet.

I love the information you can get about the knife you are interested in on the internet. A simple search can get you more info than you
need and lots of great pictures too.

Auctions are always a great way to get a good deal.

Smokey Mountain Knife Works the store is truly awesome. It truly makes
Gatlinburg/Sevierville that much greater of a place to visit. We always get to stop there and I always make it a point to buy as much as I can before my girlfriend gets mad and goes and waits in the car while I look the knives over and over and over . . .

Gatlinburg offers a few nice knife shops as well, they are good to look over and maybe find a nice deal but they cannot beat SMKW. Of course I always have to check them out anyway ;)

Now that I think of it I don't think I have EVER purchase a knife from a B&M store other than SMKW or an odd knife shop out on the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge strip. Every once in a while around here a knife shop will open up in one of the malls, but will quickly get shut down and be replace with a video game store or such. They never really had a very good selection anyway, I could probably open up a better shop with my collection (but no way to meet any kind of demand > 1.

Anyway, I think what I was going to say is I like to buy knives wherever I can find nice knives ( and knife prices ). :)

I own 21 factory knives.
16 of these were purchased from local dealers, 14/16 all from Sharp Edge at Sandton City, Johannesburg, who have the best selection.
2 of these were gifts from my girlfriend.
2 were purchased from a US Glocktalk buddy who got it from the internet sites in the States.
1 from a local collector (BM CQC7)

You can get better prices off the net, but it's much nicer to check out the knife you plan to buy. If one adds on shipping, forex and insurance charges then I can walk into the local outlet and buy the same knife for the same price as it would cost to import it. With the recent fall in the Rand from December all imported goods have really increased in price and the local dealers were forced to mark up prices.:(
