Where do you buy your foil

Guys,

where do you get your foil? Is foil quality is the same everywhere or not?
What thickness is better?
BTW I'll be using it for CMP 154 and CPM 10V.

I get mine from MSC (Manhatten Supply Company) can't remember which grade. If someone else doesn't answer your question I'll check mine and post the type and catalog number. It will be next evening before I can make it back to the shop.

I also use the foil from MSC, in the heavy grade. I chose the heavery grade only so it wouldn't tear.

www.midwestknifemakers.com has high-temp 309 by the foot. Nearly all the foil I've come across is .002" thick. I've found it .003" but it's Type 321 (lower temp).

if your runnign theb 10v at high temps get the $$$ foil the std stuff kills off at 2050 (ask me how i know)

CPM 10V needs 2150 degrees and all foil I can find is 2100 max.

Is 2100 degrees foil good enough?

alexmin: 2150 is the maximum Austenitizing temperature for 10V. I'd go with 2075F-Right in the middle of the range. 2100F foil will be fine, even if you go up to 2100F.

i ran just over 2125 on some 10v and dam near lost the foil i will not run that hot again

i can tell you i have run "low temp" foil to 2075 no prob tho RJ knows his stuff
