Personally I shop at:

Knifeworks
New Graham
Grand Prairie Knives

I buy from whomever of the 3 has the lowest price. I've had nothing but great experiences with them; the knives arrive in excellent quality, customer service is great, and I get the knives 2 days after I order.

I would buy from local guys to support them, but I would feel like an ass if i tried to negotiate prices, and at $15-$20 more than online prices, especially for a college student, I can't afford to support the local dealers.

Where you do guys shop?

American Heritage sports is the Absolute best

#2 is NGK

Knife works has also been good, they seem to have olderstock thogh. The knives are like pre 2000

I'm a sucker for a deal online, but if your local dealer is helping you out and giving you good service you should do everything you can to support them.

I can't pass up a good private party sale on the forums though.

You may be able to find good prices at Gun/Knife shows in your area if you know how to work the dealers.

Usually I buy from brick-and-mortar stores because I really like to handle what I'm buying.

Some local ones that I frequent are:

The Knife Shoppe, in Ft. Mill, SC.
Stacey's Knives, in Rock Hill, SC.
The Carolina Hunter, in Gastonia, NC.
The Carolina Sportsman, in Newport, SC.
Shooter's Express, in Mt. Holly, SC.
Smokey Mountain Knife Works, somewhere near Pidgeon Forge?--we stop by whenever were go to see the in-laws in Ohio.

Good luck,
Allen.

I wish I could find a local shop that had prices only $15-20 higher than online shops! :) That's very fair, especially on a $100+ knife. I buy everything online. I don't know of any local knife shops in my area. The last one I was at was 2 hours or more away and they wanted $185+ for a Manix, when I could get it only for $115 or whatver. ?! I really wanted to buy something from them too, very nice store, but they were charging way to much. I would pay $130-140 for a piece I could get online for $115, but there comes a point where I feel I'm being soaked. Especially if they are charging $70 for a knife I could get online for $35. Ridiculous. I work in retail and we have to compete with online retailers. We're lucky if we make $50 on a $700+ video camera, while that knife store was making at least $70 on a less than $200 knife. ?!

The only knives they sell are Benchmade, and you can't order online... Man, thats one hell of a store.

I like them. Joe is a great guy and his stuff is always perfect. he sends you knives unflawed and i trust him. and they ahve tons om Limited modles.

I usually go to the only store around here that has high quality knives, handle them, and then I order from the internet. They charge MSRP and won't haggle. No thanks.

ebay is great for these things. But if I want something new, I use www.junglewarehouse.com. Their prices are among if not the best on most items, and their customer service rules (I had a shipping mixup, but they handled it really easily).

MSRP is perfectly resonable. I just can't believe there are places out there that mark up above MSRP!

Busses and Swamp Rats direct from the source, and almost everything else from John at Cable Knives.

New Graham
Ebay
Bladeforums.com

There aren't any more local knife stores, they all went out of business, so the next best thing is my local sporting goods store. Not exactly what I'd call the largest selection, although the prices are reasonable.

I don't buy at gun shows, the prices are high and the dealers I find are generally rude. So, I buy from New Graham and watch for deals on Ebay and the Knife Exchange.

If I'm gonna buy something fairly new, I go with New Graham. The customer service is top notch, the prices may not be the cheapest, but they're very reasonable and did I mention the service was good? I'm a great fan of good service and will pay more for it!

I tend to disagree. From working in retail and trying to compete with other stores you'd be crazy to sell things at full retail value. For example, say a video camera costs us $649, the minimum advertised price maybe $799 and the suggested retail price maybe $999. Companies like Sony won't let us advertise below $799. So companies like Best Buy, Circuit City, etc, will sell at $799.99 because the heavily advertise their products. My store doesn't advertise and has discounted prices and may sell the camcorder for $699.99. A place like Sears might try and get $899.99 or higher. If you go online to a company like bhphotovideo.com they may sell it for $649.99, but you have to add it to your shopping cart to see their discounted price. So for me it's crazy to think someone would try and sell something for the full suggested retail price with so many people shopping online.

If you can get a knife online for $115 and you go to a knife shop and see it for $185 it's a big slap in the face. More and more customers will be aware of online prices and will run from shops trying to soak them. The sad thing is where I work we may have a video camera for $479.99 and people have a print out from the web showing it for $459.99 and want us to match the price or whatever. You'd think for that little difference they'd be happy to support a local business. However, if we had it for $599.99 I could understand if they wouldn't want to do business with us.

I got most of my cutlery from eBay. Most of them, I got for way below MSRP. Other than that, NGK and 1SKS for the latest models.
