Where do you folks get your name dies for stamping blades?

NM you can also try Steve at "Buckeye engraving" he has made me 3 stamps all of them have been very good quality.

Great guys to deal with and they have been cheaper than the competition

If you need more help with it feel free to pm me your number and I can tell you the in's and out's on stamping.

Some of the guys have gotten stamps from here also and I understand they are cheaper. Can't vouch for the quality as I've never ordered from there but from what I've heard they're nice also.

In my experience you will pay a bit more for a stamp from Henry Evers....but it is well worth it. My first stamp came from Evers, and lasted nearly 12 years! When I decided I needed a new stamp, I checked with Evers again, and the price sorta scared me....so I went with a "cheaper" stamp, and then another, and then another. Out of the three "cheaper" stamps I tried, one only lasted for 5 impressions before it "mushroomed" out.

I went back to Everstamp, long story short, they cost a little more, but two in nearly 25 years of knifemaking in a pretty good testimony...... go with the good stuff....the first time.

thanks for all the info... great leads.

I have never stamped a blade with text before...I assume it is better to stamp before heat treating? I really like that idea with the built in vice to hold it steady.

If you just want to do a letter or two, McMaster-Carr has heavy duty individual letter stamps for like $5 a piece that are supposed to be good for stamping materials up to Rockwell 40C or extra heavy duty ones that are supposed to be good for up to Rockwell 60C for $13.

I have never used them and don't know the quality, but it is an option that is out there anyway, and a cheap one to try. I think I am going to pick up a single letter one just to try it when I make my next order. They have personalized ones available also for cheaper than most places I have looked.
