Where do you get washers?

The washers on a sebenza 21 are hand polished (thickness adjusted) to match the specific pivot bushing on that particular knife exactly. With the slabs tightening down on the pivot bushing, washers too thick will bind the blade, and too thin will allow side-side play. CRK does not want Sebenza 21s out there than have these properties, ruining the reputation of the knife to be smooth and easy to take-down and reassemble with no adjustment needed. This is the famous "hand fitting" of the Sebenza 21, which accounts for very small variances in the production parts, that would otherwise require adjustability in the finished design.

However, I see no issue with CRK shipping out Inkosi, Umnumzaan, or Sebenza 25 washers, as pivot tension is set by the owner. They could offer these products on their web store in my opinion.

So I both agree and disagree with the OP.

My point is real simple, so put down your CRK Koop-Aid and follow: if I need a frigging washer, I shouldn't have to send the knife in and pay $25 to/from shipping while waiting 4-6 weeks for someone to get around to "popping" it in. I don't consider this a courtesy or service to appreciate. One day they will stop making knives and then what? We gather in a circle jerk formation and reminisce about what it was like when someone could polish a washer and make our paper weight move like it should... get your head out of your ass. They send the damn knife with a tool and lube to open and clean it. This isn't Pandora's box.

And real slick...moving this thread out of the place where it should be so as to not stink up the place with a real world observation.

That's harsh, but you're entitled to your opinion. You can either live with the policy or buy another brand.

By the way, what's wrong with the washer, it was never stated in the original post?

How many manufacturers will send out washers in the United states? I would argue most won't. It is also not a secret that crk won't. They don't plan on you damaging your knife when simply taking it apart. So you knew this going into the whole thing or you were willfully ignorant. Crk is doing you a solid by offering to fix a knife you broke.

And if this isn't Pandora's box as you put it then do the leg work and go find some washers and install them your self. If it is as simple as you say it should be easy. Let us know how it works out. I'm not going to mention where I got my washers as I don't think they are a supporting dealer but multiple knife supply websites sell them.

The facts have been explained to you. At this point either send it in, live with it, sell it, or do the simple task yourself. What you are doing now is complaining while insulting a respected brand , members of this forum, and the moderators. I said it before to another member above, I think you will find those things rarely go well but for some reason I doubt you'll care.

Two members have asked you now as to why you need a washer in the first place. Why won't you explain that and maybe someone could help you in some other way? CRK's terms for repairing a knife are very clear and always have been. If you don't like it then make them an offer they can't refuse and buy the company and start doing things how you think they should be done. Believe it or not, 4-8 weeks is really not that long of a period of time. You could always just send it in, ask them for new washers AND a spare set of washers, and put another knife in your pocket for 4-8 weeks. It's really that simple. Your language and bravado aren't impressing anybody here. If you want to ask a question or have a complaint, there are ways to go about it without acting like you're the only smart person in the world.

No company is going to go above and beyond if the OP communicates with them the way he has done with us and the mods here. I wouldn't count on crk sending him extra anything.

Entitled person is spewing entitlement.
Wonder what the heck he did to destroy the existing washers.....oh right.....he refuses to answer that question. How bout a couple pics??
Ignore.
Couple of great posts by you in this thread Cray.

Do you "need a washer" because your current one is defective? Then it needs to be sent back to CRK. Hopefully before they "stop making knives one day."

If you messed up the washer yourself, then you deserve to be without the knife "for 4-6 weeks waiting for someone to get around to popping it in".

And in the meantime, if you own any Benchmades, I'd suggest you stock up on Omega springs for your Axis locks before the company folds.

Pose a question or make a point in a reasonable fashion and you're likely to get gentlemanly and helpful responses and engender an informative discussion. Waltz in with your chest puffed out acting like a blowhard, that's exactly how you'll get treated. What goes around comes around.

I would personally just stop responding to the guy, it's pretty obvious to me even as a new member that he's not going to be around here for very long with his attitude.

This thread has served its purpose. We got a new member with no manners at all, cursing at members who could have helped him.

He wasn't getting anywhere with CRK. I wonder why? His question was, where to get washers, so I moved the thread to Gadgets & Gear. For that, he insulted me.

I'm closing the thread now because we all know it isn't going anywhere good. I'll discuss the other problem with the two of them privately.
