Where you guys get your metal liner (brass/nickle silver/copper) flat stock from? I've been purchasing from Jantz but I am curious if there is a cheaper option out there.

Thanks in advance!

I just recently ordered copper and 416 bar stock and pins from Sheffield supply. Good price and they had a few different dimensions available.

I just looked them up only about an hour and a half away did you call to order? I don't see a website

Yes I call in orders. They have a pdf catalog so I just write down the numbers of the item I want and call it in.

Do you have a link to the catalog? Several of the links in google aren't working :/.

Sheffield seems to be a old school. You can download their print catalog but you can't order on-line. Just call them up and tell them what you need and they will immediately tell you if they have it or not. Seem to be very nice people. I get the feeling it is a family operation. My experience with them has all been good.

I've had good experiences with Sheffield as well for liner/bolster materials and micarta. I agree that I would be more willing to pull the trigger on things if their website had even basic online ordering capacity. Shopify.com Sheffield if you are reading this!!!!!!

I actually just placed an order from online metals for copper sheet, silicon bronze rod, and some 3/8 A36 square bar that was on sale for extra cheep. My experience was that, for a 77.00 order, shipping was going to be 40 bucks. Out of curiosity, I changed the lengths of my order, raising the price slightly to see if shipping would be cheaper, lo and behold a window popped up saying I qualified for 50 bucks off shipping. Changed my order a bit and ended up spending 80 bucks with free shipping.

I think you'll find most folks tend to use the same material for bolsters and pins - that allows the pins to "disappear" better when finishing. Using different materials makes it VERY hard to get the pins to disappear.

Good thing you caught that! Thanks for the info.
