Where do you hide your spare house keys?

Just trying to make a not so subtle point here. Not only are we getting a little free with some very personal information here, but I'm sure that Spark can't be thrilled with all the space this kind of stuff is taking up on the server.
Wouldn't the proper place for personal interaction be in the Community forum?
I know somebody's gonna laugh at me and tell me I'm being paranoid. I can live with that.

Hey Ken, I thought this place is for blades, not keys?

...Point taken, but personally I would't mind if someone feels (Moderator)that a topic is not worthy to just LOCK it up. I have seen that done several times.I'm sure we would understand, although it does require his time to do so.I think I started a thread about, where do you live.Sorry it probably took up alot of space, but it was cool to hear from all the people. Is this the most highly visited area? Well again my apologies! And Ken I keep my spare key locked in my house

,Thanks Bart

Bartman,
No offense intended, I just think we're all getting a little carried away with the freedom of information. Remember you have to be registered to post here, but ANYBODY can read it.
Also, I was just trying to think of poor Spark's sanity. Poor guy has to sleep sometime. Keeping this place tuned up and running as fast as it does is a FULL time job. I'm sure Mike knows he has a wizard taking care of all this for him.
I know just enough to know I couldn't do it.

Shoot, if you want to talk and get to know folks, email me! if you've been on this board awhile, I consider that character reference enough!

Spark doesn't sleep. Mike keeps him chained to a desk with an IV line connected to a West Bend five gallon slow-drip percolator filled with some of Brazil's finest slow-roast.

I can see it now, "You dare to mock the great Spark-holio?! Give me TP!"

Ken,
Seriously, you aren't paranoid, people really are out to get you.

My spare house keys are chained to my dog's collar,(Dobie, German Shephard mix)
If yo can get to them, you are more than welcome to my house.
Oh one more thing:
"GOOD LUCK"

Lighten up a little. No disrespect intended and point taken. I'm not plotting anything dastardly, well not until I get my secret decoder ring anyway.

Actually, storage / server space on this site isn't a problem, so that's one less worry for me. The server we're on is one of the easiest to check/maintain (concerning our software) so that's a blessing as well.

I just don't want specific addresses put on here (unless you are a dealer or something) and I want the community to build, but not at the expense of your guys safety.

So far there isn't anything too risque going on, and we don't have threads that are too close to borderline, so I'm not very worried.

Again, I'm very glad to be a part of this site, because you guys are helping turn this into something really great. In addition, you have made my job a *lot* easier, and I appreciate that as well. Compared to past projects, this site has been a walk in the park, with you guys doing most of the hard work.

Put it like this 150+ posts per day in the General Forum here. Together we must be doing something right...

Thanks again,

Also for the concern of the "off topic" threads.

Most "off topic" threads are relatively short and die out on their own. This is why we don't nuke them. If it gets to be a problem we will take the necessary to stop them. Also this forum has UNLIMITED bandwidth and storage space which I pay dearly for so we don't have that issue to worry about at all.

Ken,

Thanks for making the point. You did catch a little flack. But, you know, I'd rather catch a little flack for being too responsible than for being too irresponsible.

Thanks for caring.

Now don't take this the wrong way...
Its no ones business but my own if I want to tell someone here where I live, what I do, and what I like, and if the other person wants to tell me thats fine. If he doesn't thats fine to.
Thx for listening.
Mick

Guys, the idea behind the title of the topic was meant to get a laugh. I apologize if I came across as a bit hostile. That's the problem with my sense of humor. It doesn't translate well to the written word. Instead of wry, wry, and high (on life) it sometimes sounds like I'm angry. Please believe me, I am about the most non-confrontational person you would ever want to meet. If I have my way, I'll live the rest of my life with a self satisfied smirk on my gruesome mug!

Mick, yes, you're abo****ely right you have the right to post as much personal information as you like here or anywhere else. I was only concerned that some here may be lulled into a false sense of security by the amiable atmosphere here.
Thanks Mike

Spark, Mike and James: if "Community-type threads" get too frequent here, feel free to do "wormhole links" over to community and then close the threads here. I'd do it, but I can't close threads on this end.

All ya gotta do is goto Community, create the "destination" thread, go into it, record it's URL via cut'n'paste to a notepad window, then come back here, create the link and THEN close the thread on this end. You avoid "shutting down the conversation" while providing a subtle reminder to re-route to Community where there ain't no sech critter as "off topic".

Ken, your point is well taken. I don't think anyone was angry, I know I wasn't. Just stating my point of view.
Mick

Agreed, I don't think anyone here had their panties in a bunch over this, but I for one am glad that you spoke your mind and wanted to make sure everyone kept a realistic view on this.

Well, how about this, after all this serious stuff, I will answer the question. I dont lock my house. So if you are ever in Montana and I come home and you have made youself comfy, I will either shoot you or figure out you are a Blade Forumite! ha ha ha
smile.gif

Well, I'm going to make this short, as it definitely strays from the original focus (there was a focus, right?), and it it relates to Rob's not locking his home. Well, when I moved up to Montana, I found out that to be the norm for the most part in that state (not locking your house). Coming from Illinois, I thought that was somewhat trusting, but it fit the unpopulous setting. What really floored me was when I went to the car dealerships there and found out that most of the cars on the lot didn't have their doors locked either! This was after the dealership was closed!. Montana, it is "the last best place"...

Rob,
Just to show that my heart's in the right place, I promise to keep my feet of the furniture!
Funny but true, I once called Armand Swenson and asked if I could come over and see him at his home in Fallbrook CA. To make a long story short, We got the dates mixed up and I ended up showing up when he wasn't home. Being country folk, I just automatically went around back to see if he was in the shop or something and came face to face with a pair of really PO'd dogs. They just KNEW I shouldn't be there if the boss wasn't home. I ended up backing all the way back to the car with one hand on my pistol. The whole time, I was busy wondering what to do if they attacked. I kept thinking, "Do I want to shoot Armand Swenson's dogs? Or should I just let them maul me until he gets home?
Lucky for me, I made it back to the car and managed to get back with him on the correct day. Told him about it and he thought that was just the heighth of hilarity!
Don't worry, I'll call first!
