Where do you keep 'em?

Unfortunately..., you have to be quite old to acquire the naked Bali-Slaves :p ..,, as I had to wait until I was almost 45 to get my first nice one!

I have begged Chuck to commense a project to make them more available.., and perhaps even become a new addition to the "Shamless Commerce Division".., but alas.., Chuck has to invest most of his time trying to teach me how to load film in a camera these days.., and can't be bothered in the trivial pursuit of finding maidens to service and maintain our beloved knives. :(

I will keep you posted if I happen to have "extras".., but hedonism is a terrible thing  , and unfortauntely I have been the Poster-Boy for 3 years running!

I've got this wooden display case my grandfather built and gave a bunch of to my family. Basically.. 4 inches high, 3 in the front.. top is just a frame with a large piece of glass in it all on hinges at the back. The top-looking-down/surface area is about the size of two filing cabinet drawers.

I took some of this white-board stuff (thicker than cardboard, soft white solid material inside, plastic pieces pasted on top.. like the stuff they use for picture backings in frames).. grabbed some blue velvet I found, wrapped/hot-glued it around the white board, (which I cut fitted to the box).. pressed it into place, and my small collection (mostly non-bali's I've had since I was a kid) sit there.

Every day I walk by, open 'er up, and grab one or two I want to carry for the day/night.

By the way.. Velvet is like $100/meter, I suggest the rest of you (who like me, don't sew but have someone in the house who does) ask before taking a chunk of some fabric that's just been sitting there a couple years.. there may be reasons for it.

.. I probably put more value of fabric in there than metal :(

So I have to be old to get naked bali slaves and young to truly appreciate them...life sucks.

Good info -- thanks to all. Chuck, I really appreciated the heads-up on storing the 49-SPL, Thanks !!! I'm thinking the box liners on BM's new 690-01, 730 Carbon Fibre, and Forum Knife may not be good for long term storage as well. Recently I switched from knife bag storage to putting them in their original boxes. Figured if I got hit by the proverbial beer truck, that identification would be simpler for my heirs. BM is offering a "Knife Attache" for around $35 that is "fur" lined - holds 12 knives - well made, if a little pricey. My autos and now the 49-SPL are in a handgun safe. Thanks, again for the inputs -- outgassing of the various foams had never entered my mind.
