...I already know Pappy's answer..got em hid all over the spread in case of snakes...

Some are in my safe. One is in Beater Truck. One is by the bed. One is in the gun room ready for a hike. (with Pappy's improved frog. Great frog. Blade stays out of the way of the leg but there when you reach.)

Often there's one hitching a ride in the 'family truck'.

The other spare bedroom, the one with the "Avalanche Warning" sign on the door (ala Fibber McGee's closet)!

The ones not there are in the computer room. ( Used to be a spare bedroom before we took out the bed. )

I keep the YCS next to the bed, the AK next to the computer (it seems to mind it bits-n-bytes better under threat sometimes), and the AK Bowie travels with me in a tight fitting concealable baldric. The Seax, biltong, and MKII-43 and HI Falcatta are in the office, in or on the sword rack.

I also "store" khuks at other folks houses ;) Like the GS at N2S place, the AK villager and a biltong at my best buddies place, the Chit is at Jame's place in Georgia, and the balance is stored at me dad's place (I say "store" jokingly, as these were gifted or traded away).

The AK is in the truck when I go a travelling, as well as the AK bowie. The bowie is more compact and the sheath more secure for hiking, plus I guess you could lash the thing to a stout walking stick to make a fearsome pole weapon or spear.

One of my khuks is always in my "go to" bag with me. Right now that is the M-43. My Kothimoda is in a drawer under the bed with the 2 10" New Models. The other 20 or so hang in a special rack I made for all of my long knives over the gun safe.

:(

I'm a newbie...don't have enough yet to "store"

<sniff...pity party>

Big ass Craftsman toolbox. 16.5" Bura Chiruwa AK in truck. Bilton in the inside pocket of my jacket.

Right now? My 18" AK is on top of the mess in my room. Seems rather harsh, but the fact that nothing is sitting on top of it despite the fact that I've not used it in days signifies it having a place of honor. ;)

Yes and Yes! I forgot about the one next to the computer- the latest- UBE.

And Yes- often Villager or the Chir AK sit on top of the mess in the gun room.

I'm getting the impression that we like to have khuks close at hand in many different places and situations in our lives.

I almost called this thread: "Khuk at Airport?" Because I travel with one instead of a sidearm frequently. Yesterday I dropped off my Mother in Law at the Billing Airport. There are signs forbidding weapons in the parking lots and roads. I don't know what this means exacty. Weapons in my truck when I drop off a passenger? I don't think so. I'm not traveling nearly 400 miles through road closures in winter without a KHuk or 41 mag.

I have them laid out on a coffee table with most of my knife collection. In fact, I need another coffee table :)

I discovered a useful display tecnique, simple too, take two nails or strong tacs and stick them in the wall about 4 inches apart, then make a loop of string that will be held tightly between the two nails. Put the loop through the frog and hang the Khuk from the two tacs. I have mine right by my bedroom door, hanging as described above. It was the only way to keep it above the mess!

I still have my Home Depot bucket in the closet. Gymbooee was supposed to send me a picture of his mother-in-law to stick to the side but I haven't received it yet. :D ;)

In a BIG drawer in my workroom, with some spilling over into the workbench. One under the bed, one in the truck. Couple of small ones in desk drawer at work. Varying number in the 'transition area' (garage shelf before sneaking them in past my wife).

Most of mine are in my library. My M-43 is by the bed, and my BAS is currently downstairs in the living room while my WWII is hanging out on the kitchen counter for the time being.

For some reason, Josh, I think a Khuk is at home in the library. Probably all the metalurgists, chemists, classicists and other ists who are members of this forum that give the Khuk a noble title. I don't know, a snifter of brandy, a book by Ruyard Kipling, copy of Jane's on the walnut table, and a Khuk by your side.

..and to cut Madonna's children's book in half should it ever creep into the sanctuary.

Where?

Hmmm. Pen knife under pillow, 12 in AK on table near wallet w/ license, etc., 15 AK by doorway, and the little paper cutter in a permanent sheath I made for the small game bag (rabbit/pheasant/squirrel).

OT more or less: used the 12 inch on butchering deer this year (I did not get a shot, but others live in Wisconsin's "extermination zone" and gave me 2 1/2 deer. (O-OT: WI DNR has offered a bounty on Chronic Wasting Diseased deer; i.e., if you shoot a deer that tests with the disease, the shooter gets $250, and the land-owner gets $250.) (Back to merely OT: Shankar's 12 in AK was really handy and never lost its edge, still, smaller knives had to be brought into use for getting the meat out of tight places...without cutting through bone as recommended by DNR. Actually used the 12 in to cut the head off...but first sliced through the skin and meat first...not really a challenge. end of OT)

(sheez, this post is like Columbo leaving a room !:D )

Found an almost new Samsonite suitcase at local Goodwill Store for $3.00.

It now contains all extras and overages to include some kuks, goloks, machetes,
bolos, and various knives collected at antique stores/flea markets/ebay, etc.

Knives are coated with Rig grease and put inside their scabbard or a handmade cardboard scabbard.

Suitcase stays in a closet, inside the house, where humidity is low.

Looking for another suitcase now.

Funnily enough once or twice I have left my BAS (non HI) in the library between jobs or because I brought it down then had to leave quickly, safest place since anyone who goes in there is going to know not to mess with it, whenever its in there it just looks at home. I once left it on a shelf at the feet of my fathers Buddah and seriously considered that as a permanant home (I know, wrong deity but hey, it looks good).

Terrible to see my post in quotes revealing bad writing, but that aside, StmmZuam, you see Khuks and libraries go together.

What does this mean? Khuks are classic and elegant.

Would a Kabar look as comfortable on a reading table? (Yes, I know, with us folks a M1A with bipod would look at home!) Using this test, a blade in a library or study- some types of edged weapons look good and some do not.

Libraries know what we know; The khuk is living literature of the human experience.
