Where do you keep your knives?

I've bought some glasstop displays, but have yet to use them; those wood cabinets really look refined, classy.

I don't know where to get classy stuff

Anyone have contacts or links?

Thanks!

I have one like the cabinet on the left in Lucky Dog's photo. Except, mine is a cheaper version that I got at Costco, the one in LD's pic is a pretty exspensive German made model.
Still, mine works for me and it locks. I also keep those little silica bags in the drawers to fight moisture, before I did that, a couple of my less stainless knives started getting minute rust spots, in spite of the Tuff-cloth.

Hey Lucky Dog is that the cabinet thats in the A.G.Russell catalog?
I keep my knives on a shelf in small plastic boxes that each hold 5 folders. The real expensive ones are in the pouches that came with the knives.

Hey ChetChat...

Man, I have got to get a safe like yours!!

Most of my knives are scattered all over the house. The $$$ one's are kept in a fireproof safe when I'm not home, along with other "things".

Still looking to get one of the Gerstner chests someday. They just look soooo good!!

Yeah I got my Gerstner's from A.G. Russell. They're pricey, but for the cost of one nice custom they're worth it. The Pic is from A.G's site, I have the setup on the right, and I had Gerstner custom make me a matching table. Another nice thing is they go up in value over the years, like a good custom knife.

One other thing Gerstner's are made in Dayton Ohio, not Germany, have been since 1906.

Johan,

Pretty impressive case! Is that a one and only or, do you make them for re-sale?

Stay Sharp,
Sid

p.s. Almost all my stuff is locked up in a safe (I am a knife dealer and FFL). I usually have a couple of personal knives laying around though. Been thinking of display cases lately for a couple of knives though.

For christmas I received a small fire safe and even though I thought that it was not a terrific gift, it is large enough for all my "prettier" pieces, with enough room for important papers.

I think that for daily carry pieces, it is great to build your own display with materials that reflect what you use the knives for, and to match your room. I made, by hand, a small glassed top case that I place my four daily carry pieces in.

Well now I'm worried that someone is going to steal my few spyderco's I have. I'll be out $350.00 or so. Oh well. Ignore what I posted earlier. I don't have any knives. I collect, umm...pine straw and its just laying in my yard, sooo please come take it.

I did not have the all american toolbox woodshed dad so I found my current set up fascinating.

I just got a peg board, tied it to the ceiling with steel fiber cables and screwed it to the wall with long screws so it looks like the pegboard is floating in the air =). I hang my knives there.. I dont have many so I just get a tuff cloth and rub them down lightly when I get the time off studying.

I keep mine in a locked draw in individual silicone treated sleeves from Smokey Mtn. except for the one I carry and play with, of course. Oh, and I have about 1/2 million of those little silica gel things in there and also tuff-cloth them once in a while.

A couple have asked for links to makers of displays. Well---- I make them. The link below shows a few for individual knives. I can make cabinets for whole collections too. Most of the ones I make are custom. Check it out. THANKS
