Where do you keep your knives?

I stash mine away in different drawers.

My family is getting slightly concerned because they come across blades of different shapes and sizes.

"Wow! Another one," someone would shout. "We're running out of drawers," exclaims another.

Right now, I am thinking of having them on the walls, but that would be like turning the house into a mini-museum.

I have seen one collector's knives all neatly lined up in rows in a big drawer. Another actually had his blades tagged and catalogued, listing prices, places of purchase and when they were bought.

Now, that's taking the hobby seriously....

Aside from the ten or twelve strewn about the house on any likely flat surface, mine are rolled in sackups and sealed in ammo boxes with some dessicant.

After looking around, maybe that should be twelve to fifteen...:)

i used to keep em laying around...in the floor,on the desk, where ever.
now there in a knife roll

Where do I keep MY knives?...Hanging on the walls, under my bed, in my "knife-drawer", on a table next to my couch, clipped to my jeans, in my coat pockets, hanging around my neck...Just about everywhere!.:D.

I keep most of mine in the safe. I have about 18 or 19 in a CASE XX display on top of my entertainment center, and two on my dresser that I alternate for EDC.

Exactly why do you want to know?

You watchin' me or something?

YOU'RE THE ONE HANGING OUT ACROSS THE STREET IN THAT VAN PLAYING THAT FUNNY MUSIC, AREN'T YOU????

LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

Oh, sorry, it was the ice cream man...

LMAO at Elvis! :D

Well I have a VERY nice safe.
The TOP part is supposed to house knives, and the BOTTOM part is supposed to house guns.

I say "supposed to" because there are knives and guns scattered all about the house. Right now, sitting here at my 'puter desk, I have an MT Halo III, an EKI CQC7B, and a Commander (not counting the one in my pocket) then there's a Ruger 22/45 bull barrel, a Kimber Ultra Elite .45, my 11.5 inch barreled AR-15 (Set up like the original XM-177) and maybe four swords and a couple Main Gauches.

I'm afraid the livingroom isn't much better, thank GOD I don't have any kids!

FWIW, I DO gather everything up and lock it all up in the safe before I set the alarm system and leave the house for any extended period, so I'm not TOTALLY irresponsible, it's just that the darned things just keep migrating OUT!
:D

I think that it's worth getting a good safe. I also bought a dehumidifier. Someday I'd like to display some knives when I have long-term housing. The only setup I ever saw that looked somewhat secure was owned by a gun collector friend. He built into his wall a couple large metal display housings with serious locks and heavy lexan fronts. Although a truly determined thief would eventually break through them, the lexan was thick enough to take repeated blows from a crowbar, axe or heavy hammer. The average thief would probably not have the time and ingenuity to open the displays. That's about the only way I'd consider storing good knives outside of a safe.

DPD.

Quality knife display cases are really expensive as I'm sure everyone has discovered. I came upon an oak tool chest with green felt lined drawers at Sam's Club. I got 2 of them (about $100 each) and they make perfect storage cases since they have different size drawers to accomodate different size knifes. It's a short term solution until something better is possible. But I gotta tell ya, those chests are really great:)

I bought one of those for my sons knife collection. Very nice, worked great -- for about two weeks -- then the darned thing split in half! Apparently they're made of fairly green wood.

We took it back to Sams and they said they'd gotten pretty much the whole batch back.

I see they have them in stock again, along with a wheeled base. Very nice, but I'm kinda gun-shy. Bought a Gerstner for 4x the price.

Pretty well scattered across my room if they aren't on me...

Bootknife in the process of getting sharpened is by the bed.
Hunting knives and daggers are in a roll in my desk.
Sword under the bed, along with the sai.
Bow is in the gun room now.

Getting a Craftsman Machinists' locking 9 drawer roll away . I plan to mount my Spyderco Sharpmaker and DMT Bench stones on top. I hope it lasts me for a while.............I probably can get close to filling it now.;)

4 children 6 years old and under in the house. My knives reside on my top bookshelf in boxes. 4 or 5 sit on top of boxes because they're ones I carry all the time. At any rate, the children can't get to them at this time. I'm planning on buying an inexpensive safe just to keep them from the kids.

I've got a couple of drawers with knives: the POS knives go into the unlocked ones, the more expensive ones go into the the locked ones. The Carson M4 is with me mostly, even when I sleep... :D

I keep mine on a shelf in my closet. I keep my EDC (Spyderco Police) with me at all times. At night it sits next to me on my night table.

Besides the ones on my belt I have some on display and the rest are in various drawers.Someday I'll put them all in one place.
