Where does the BK2 fit in?

Master of nothing, yet capable of everything !!! It is a compromise knife that is built like a tank. Thats why we all keep it around. You can pry with it with peace of mind.

My BK2 is my rescue knife. I've had to send it in several times after my BK7 got stuck batoning a stubborn piece of pine.
BK2 now has baton duty full time. I love my chunky lady!

The 2 is not the best for some tasks but it beats most packing such a wallop in small factor. Still a great camp knife.

Perhaps the way to look at this is "Where does everything else fit in?".

The BK2 is the compromise that can do nearly all. The others border on either too small or too big. With a BK2 you can carry it all day and not feel like you have a crowbar on your side. Yet it's not a flyweight like the BK14. For a do-all selection that spans numerous tasks the BK2 is hard to beat.

Personally I don't like to clutter up my life with too many toys. I keep my rifle battery simple - just a few that cover the tasks i'd need a rifle for. Same with handguns. Knives the same - a couple fixed blades (a 2 and a 14) and a couple folders. My knives are tools, so are my guns. They have a task and purpose - they're beautiful tools, but tools none-the-less. I select my tools looking for quality and reliability. The BK2 is not too big, nor too small. In the world of rifles you could compare the BK2 to the 30-06, does nearly everything pretty well, but sometimes it's a bit too big and sometimes not quite enough, but it'll get the job done 90% of the time.

Pretty simple really. The knife can do anything asked of it in a tough spot.
