The Himalayan Imports forum used to get maybe 60 or 70 posts per day average and sometimes as many as 100 posts in a single day -- about the same as Spyderco. Now we get only 10 or 15 posts per day. Same with Spyderco. Anybody know why the drop in posts?

I have a theory. When the HI and Spyderco forums were put to archive status a new forum number was assigned to both forums. This makes all the links everywhere on the net direct the user to the archives rather than the HI and Spyderco forum. I think some newbies may get confused when they end up in the archives and simply move on. It seems to me it would have been a better idea to keep the forums as they were and assign a new forum number to the archives since that was the thing that was being newly created. But what do I know.

The plus side is I don't have to work as hard and that's okay by me.

Uncle Bill,

You can put me down for Spring fever, visiting relatives, new grand baby, getting my new shop/office finished.

Speaking of grandbaby maybe I should start calling you cousin instead of uncle.

God Bless for a swift recovery.

There might be complications with that because of the ways the threads are stored. What would be useful is that if you pop into an archive, there was was a clearly displayed link that takes you to the new forum. While you can always find it in the popup menu's, if the forums are moved around people often cannot find them.

Thanks for input. As I mentioned, 100 posts to read and respond to eachday was a bit much so I am really not complaining -- especially since I am not running at 100%.

Bill, it's also possible that folks are taking it a little easy until you are back to 100%. You better be careful what you ask for here.

Hi Bill,

Welcome back. I guess things slowed down when you left.

Bill, we're taking it easy on you

Well, I admit that I've been lurking. I was going to put up a post about the engraved "Snow Leopard" khuk I recently received, but wanted to wait until I had some photos to go with it. Maybe next week.

Jim is right, Uncle. You should take it easy for a while, at least until you're back at 100%

Still packing my stuff for the impending move, uncle. I still come to this forum almost every night to see your beautiful pictures of Napal, though.

Don't spare me. The nurse came by to see me today and told me I was doing better than any patient she could remember -- and this nurse was no spring chicken, either. Scars are almost all healed, BP fine as it always was, heart sounding regular and strong, and I'm gaining strength each day. Old Uncle Bill is hard to kill.

Last evening went across the street to the Atlantis, drank four bottles of Heineken, ate a decent dinner and won $300.

Still miss the cigarettes terribly. I hope I won't have to endure this misery of addiction forever!

Go ahead and post. Rusty is here to help out, too, in case I want to nod off for awhile.

Khukuri FAQ

Bill:
I think there are a couple of reasons the posts are down. You are near the mark when you blame the move...but there's more to it than that. For weeks before the change, it was VERY hard for me to get on here for my daily fix of khukology...I think a lot of people in the same boat were discouraged at the necessity to repeated reload, and stare at blank screens when only the ad banners would load, etc. I complained to Spark...(only one of many I'm sure,) and the Archive is only one of several improvements made in the site.
Secondly: What was left after the falling away of the 'summer soldiers and sunshine patriots' are the true HI fans...and we are universal in our concern for your well-being, and without the necessity of collusion, have tacitly agreed to take it easy on you during your recovery from a very trying ordeal. Give up and live with it...we're babying you, and you'll just have to get used to it!

Well I've found that I learn more when I listen (read) than when I talk (type).
Hoping for your speedy recovery Uncle Bill.

What scared me off was when you said it hurt to laugh. I figured I ought to give you about a week and then ask if it still hurt to laugh. Then you posted some more about the surgery and I realized it's probably going to take a lot more than a week.... I don't know ... I can't see how all of us can avoid posting anything funny for as long as it's probably going to take. I'm afraid you're going to have to learn to just chuckle softly....

So there.

Uncle,
I'm still here, just using your recovery as an opportunity to pay bills and lay low on Khuk buys before I need to recover from a good bop on the bean. By now you should be figuring out that we will absolutely not let you overdo it until we say you can. At that point you will read " Uncle, do you have a ....?"
Take care of yourself,
Leo

I'm usually here at least once a day Uncle Bill. I've mostly been lurking as I just haven't had much to say. I'm always looking for good deals and lively conversation though!
