Garth has had a very trying few weeks and this has forced him to be away from the shop for some time.
On Wednesday, March 25th he got a call saying his wife Courtney was not feeling well and needed to head home. Upon arrival she was not doing well at all, so the decision was made to take her to the emergency room. After a few tests, doctors determined that Courtney was having a MAJOR heart attack. They called it a STEMI. Complete blockage on the right side. This type of heart attack is referred to as a Widow Maker. She was rushed into surgery and had to have multiple stents put in.
Thank God for the Doctors and nurses who were on call that night. The right people were right where they needed to be, right when they needed to be there. The cardiologist said that she was minutes away from being gone. Fortunately, it was detected in time. Surgery was successful and she was able to go home the next evening with no permanent damage to her heart. Lots of rest and recoup time needed.
Unfortunately, Garth's fun did not end there. Less than 24 hours after getting Courtney home from the hospital disaster struck again. His son Mace, was in a serious dirt bike accident. He shattered his collar bone and was rushed to the ER. Thank God he was wearing a helmet or it could have been much worse. After spending another night in the hospital with Mace, doctors determined they needed surgery to reassemble the pieces of his collarbone. An 8" incision, plates and 9 screws later, Mace was back in one piece and able to head home.
Since then Garth has been home taking care of 2 patients, shuttling younger kids to and from school, handling doctor appointments and somehow managing to stay sane through it all. He has even snuck into the shop occasionally to keep stuff moving as best he can.
Long story short, Garth's recent absence from the forums and delays in emails and messages are due to this situation. If you have emailed him and he has not had a chance to respond please be patient. If your order is taking a bit longer please be patient as both Garth and Mace are critical to the process of getting knives out the door. Garth generally runs the production floor and the team members there are doing the best they can without their captain sailing the ship.
The current state of the world has also brought a larger-than-normal pile of military orders that we are processing. We try to keep everything moving as best we can, however when Military orders come in they get pushed to the front of the priority line.
Please keep Garth and his family in your thoughts and Prayers as they navigate the next few weeks. Mace is healing but will be down and out for at least a month. Courntey has been cleared to return to work this week on light duty. She may even answer the phone if you call the shop but she is also trying to catch up on emails and order processing as well.
We appreciate all of your patience and look forward to things getting back to normal here soon.
