Where I spend my lunch hour

I suppose I'm pretty lucky. Behind the office is a parcel of land that has been pretty much unused for 100 years or so. Some people use it for some four wheeling and riding quads on the weekends. I usually just eat something quick and hike the property for the rest of the hour.

Sorry for the bad pics. It was a mix of rain and freezing rain. I think my lense fogged up on a couple.

A little piece of fatwood I managed to bring back with me.

Much better use of a lunch hour than driving to McDonalds, no?

Great pics and YES much better than going to McDonalds. Is that a Sodbuster of some sort?

That is really nice back there Rupestris. The only thing I can do on my lunch hour is stroll the Detroit River and check out what the shore fishers are catching. Not all that pretty however and you have to duck the onslaught of the poop from the pigeons roosting under the bridge.

Also, I never come across fatwood around here. The local forests are almost entirely hardwoods and the only pine trees are those which have been planted.

Thanks all.

First, yep. That's a sodbuster Jr. One of those $16 Lowes specials.

K, the fatwood is from a section of the woods that used to be a tree farm You can't tell from the angle but most of those pines are in rows.

Nice place to have as a playground. What do you do for work?

I work for DuPont in their automotive refinish group. I do a bit of everything. Some of the daily tasks are new product evaluations, troubleshooting, training and some color matching thrown in the mix. Title on the card says "Color and Technical Representative". I support the sales teams across the country.

When they run into a problem that might be a bit tougher than they're used to, they call in the cavalry. Me.

eh, it pays the bills.;)

Rupestris - You're living right! Anytime you can balance work with outdoors in the same day is a good day.

Atmospheric pictures & nice soddie.

I'd probably end up taking whole day-breaks there rather than lunch-breaks & would be fired very quickly.....Lucky you for having those opportunities(&knowing how to use them!)

Nice lunch hour. :)

Where I'm employed---that would be the Colonel Crawford Local School District, for summer student employment---there is an expansive campus located just outside the Ohioan boom town of North Robinson (population 36). The campus boasts a large section of woods and running trails cleared for student use---especially by the track and cross country teams, etc. On my two fifteen minutes breaks and my 45-minute lunch, you'll find me back there.

The only problem with this summer job is that the head custodian and superintedent allow use to carry knives---a habit that is hard to curb once school is officially back in session! :D

Luckily I'm free to carry knives at work. My coworkers have come to expect it.:p I'm the guy they come to see when they want something cut. I also get to remove any big bugs, spiders and the occasional snake that finds its way into the building.

Its a small office with only 25 employees that are all pretty close. Firearms are a no-no. Not even in the car as it is against DuPont policy and they do make the rules regarding their buildings.

As long as we don't walk around with stuff like Beckers or RD9's in front of the students all is good. Just be discrete is all they ask.
