Where is CPM D2 Military? I heard that collectors already got their variants, but when will it hit the market, or everything is already gone?

Thanks, Vassili.

Vassili, I don't believe any except some testers are out yet. Cliff Stamp talked about having one. I think they're a way off still. Regards, Joe

Is that the one with the new lock or just CPM D2?

Haven't heard about a new lock yet. Just the inletted liners that debuted with the CF BG42 sprint. Those are on all new regular models too IIRC. It should be a nice knife.

You can try a pre order in at The Pharmacy. I didn't look in to any place else so I don't know. joe

Sherlock - it isn't supposed to have stop lock yet. Just the steel and green G-10.

Hi Vassili,

As mentioned, CPM-D2. Foliage green scales. No new lock.

A few pieces have gone out to a few people for testing. Crucible has received a few pieces.

We sent steel to Frank Centofante and Wayne Goddard to test. Knives are being produced now. Should be out 'fore too long.

Rather have the current military with S30v. Find it easier to hone up and polish as well as keep the edge then D2. Although the D2 I've experinced is limited and I have no way of telling if my 806 is poorly grind or heat-treated, my Chinook III has held a better edge longer and easier to hone up. I'm not sharpening handicapped either(even if I want to toss that 806 in the dumpster) I hope the mili stays with s30v for now.

Knife nut, the CPM D2 model is a sprint run knife and not a replacement for the standard S30V military. They will continue to be made and sold as usual.

The CPM D2, the S90V sprint run that will be sold some time in the future, and last years BG42 bladed , carbon fibre model sprint run are built and sold for enthusiasts, dedicated collectors, and steel junkies that love trying and comparing different steels and their properties. The Base S30V model is too good a knife for it to be discontinued due to a few sprint runs of other steels. It's one of Spyderco's flagship models. Regards, Joe

Anyone know if the D2 version will be a coated blade? I ask because every D2 blade I own is coated for rust protection.

Coated black or olive drab would be cool. Make the G-10 olive drab and everyone that owns a Black Military would be buying one. I would love a black CE blade with olive drab G-10 scales. I would pay top dollar for one in fact.
