Where is Rolf?

I was wondering that as well. Its been a long time since I got a message from him. Hope he is ok.

+ 1. Hope everything is ok with him. The biggest enabler on bladeforums, who’s writings have made deep and lasting impacts on my bank account

Yeah, it's been a while... I'm going to send him an email, I think I still have it. I'll let you gents know if I hear from him.

Hey guys,

Just heard back from Rolf! He asked me to share with you all that he's well, and that he's spending time at home with his son, who has special needs. Rolf also said that he's carrying a Spyderco Wolfspyder lately (big surprise, ha!) but that he still loves his Emersons... always will.

So, all's good--he's just tending to the important things in life.

By the way, he followed up with this request:

"One more thing. I'd like to trade for a CQC7 B with the rear spacer, Waved. Please lmk if you see one come up."

So, if you have one, or see one, let him know!

Glad he is doing good. Thx for the replies.

Ironically, i just received exactly that a week ago through trade. Wanted to expand my comfort zone and try the icon, so I traded my spare 7A satin for a coated tanto waveless lol.

Sorry Rolf. I am in absolute love with this thing. The fit and finish are so good it absolutely blew my mind!

Take care. I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding one.

A red one.

Thanks for letting us know, Rolf is a champion.

Waveless huh? I have been temped a few times, but never went for it. The wave, though practically speaking I'd be fine without it, is just the kind of feature that screams "Emerson" to me... I think it would just not feel like an Emerson without it.

And then there's the A100 calling to me...

We'll see.

Try a Waveless CQC-8 some day - utter carry perfection. Oh, and I can wave mine open off the 45 caliber thumb disc rather easily.

I thought the lack of a wave (plus the tanto) would be off-putting. I almost like this one better. I got a REALLY nice specimen.

I have a super straight thumb that places the pad too far forward on the hook unless I juke with my grip. That was always one slight little nag in the back of my mind. Messing around and ending up with a cramped and less secure hold. Seems like these were made for small hands and/or hitchhiker thumbs (which I've now noticed almost everyone but me has!!! I'm a freak....

Lol.

I got used to it, but when this waveless thing came, WOW. I don't know what it is but it just melted into my hand, and that "hideous" tanto point begged to do some stuff! Now I have some priorities to sift through.

But yeah, get the wave!
They are still all Emerson.

Cool--the wave worked with the structure of my hand, so I never felt the need. But I think I'll give it a try.

I've gotta see these thumbs, Mr. Bond.:D

I'm thinking it has to do more with my grip style. I like the entire back of the handle and blade to be in contact with my hand as much as possible.

The 7 is just small enough to open my hand up or stab my thumb with the hook. I'm sure a larger model like the Commander or 15 wouldn't present the same issue.

Looking forward to a 15 when better times fall.

Hope all is well, Aias!

All's good--Im a professor, so it's back to work for me soon. No complaints though--had a good summer.

The 15 is nice; had one, but sold it, The handle fit my hand very well, but ultimately, the 'enclosure' front and back made it a bit limiting. If my primary use was martial in nature, then the 15 would have been perfect. But I use my blades more for camp or kitchen related activities (or just mundane edc things)... thus the 15 proved to be less than ideal for my needs.

I carry an Emerson Outlaw (sig series)--it has a Roadhouse handle and a bowie blade. It works for me.

Be well, Mr. Bond

Sux to hear about the 15.
I train and teach blades, and need my EDC to fill that role, but like you, my primary purpose for said blades has always been utility, the way it should be. I had wondered about that enclosure as well. Wish I could just handle some before I buy.

Glad your summer treated you well!
