Sux to hear about the 15.
I train and teach blades, and need my EDC to fill that role, but like you, my primary purpose for said blades has always been utility, the way it should be. I had wondered about that enclosure as well. Wish I could just handle some before I buy.

I did some knife work while MA training, and in that light the 15 would be a good choice. The downturned end makes handling it a breeze while tuning it in hand from saber to reverse grip.

Too bad you're not in SoCal--we could have taken a ride to the shop... it's just down the freeway from me. Let me know your thoughts if you pick up a 15--every now and then I think of getting another; I love the blade.
