I would love some Sambar but might settle for anything nice and cheap sized for through tang bowie and large fighters.

Masecraft or elenhunting has it but none of it is cheap. Ebay occasionally has elk racks for sale. Axis deer horn out of Texas or Florida also can get it done(check ebay there too)

You might want to check these out...

Doing a search for "sambar" on ebay usually turns up some scales, tapers and rolls. eBay's taxidermy category usually always has several species of stag antler being peddled.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Chuck Bybee at Alpha has about the best around if you are looking for carvers and rolls. It is pricey stuff but always good. You get to see side and top pics of the actual piece that you are buying on his website. At least one of the other placed mentioned may be cheaper, but my luck with them has been kind of hit and miss. About the only way to get the good stuff for less is to go to Blade or one of the other big shows and root through the bins. If you are looking for scales, then some of the other places are good. As for the other species, I haven't been at this game for that long, but to me, there is sambar and there is everything else. Not even close and I think that many customers feel the same way. You should see how the European knifemakers slobbered over the stag that I brought to Belgium the last two years. For some reason, they can't get it as easily even though they are closer to the source. I'm thinking that maybe I should buy an extra 10 carvers at Blade this year and see if I can trade them for a few pieces of nice mammoth ivory next fall. They have plenty of that stuff!!!!

I buy most all mine there too. My favorite method is to buy a roll and cut the scales myself so they match. Nothing burns me worse than to buy scales that arent even from the same animal. My pet peeve I guess.

Chuck had a HUGE roll that was listed for almost $200 a while back. Shocking, yes, but if you had seen the pic, you would have likely said that is what a $200 piece of stag looks like!!!:D
