I found a couple places on line but I haven't dealt with them.I don't want to run into a situation like I recently did when I ordered some handle material and I was told my order would ship that day but 12 days later they hadn't even packaged it for shipping.

I just bought a used B-III 1.5 hp non variable speed grinder. It has no accessories.Doesn't even have the solid square accessory bar.

I will be getting a flat platen, the square bar and possibly a larger wheel for convex grinding.

What size wheel should I get and is there any thing else that you would consider essential even on a very limited budget.

If you think you would want a small wheel attachment, try the one from Beaumont Metal works...I like the simplicity, larger bearings than the OEM, and quick change of the wheels.

They make one just for the Bader...

Contact them about the order info for a Bader tool arm and the mounting hardware for wheels

8" is "standard" unless you want bigger for hollow grinding

I also highly recommend the beaumont metalworks accessories, they're extremely well built, and work exactly like you want them to.

All the knife suppliers carry the accessories. Jantz, K&G, Texas, etc.

Or, just order directly from Steve at Bader.

pop at pops knife supply would be a good one to talk to...helped/still helps me alot

I'm with Stacy, just call Bader directly. For a small wheel, the Bader "double billy roll" can't be beat.

Most of the dealers have some Bader stuff, but Bader has it all. Just call Bader

Like said, Beaumont makes some very good stuff for Bader Grinders also.

I just purchased a platten and work rest for my new/used BIII from Hawkins Knife supply. I received the work rest straight from Bader and I am waiting on the platten assembly from Hawkins. I will update after receiving the platten.

To be honest, I am not sure how I am going to like the work rest. Its on the smallish size. I will probably make a larger tool steel rest I can take off and resurface as needed on my surface grinder.

The Beaumont small wheel attachment makes it very easy and quick to switch wheel sizes -- just pull one out and push the next in. But the belt comes into the wheel at an angle on both sides which restricts some tight grinds.

The Bader double billy roll has the belt come up straight, around the wheel and down straight. Two advantages: (1) you can make much tighter grinds because the belt isn't in the way, (2) the wheel is up high and vertical which makes some fiddly detail work much easier. However you have to unscrew the wheels to change them.

As you can see, both have advantages. I've got the Beaumont one for my KMG and want to get the double billy roll as well.
