Where is you buying comfort zone??

Ya cheap bastards. Customs i normally are in the $600 range, +- 200 . $2100 bucks is the most i ever paid. Shhhh, the wife is coming...bye

I like this post. SWMBO is sitting next to me and some of the posts I have read aloud to her. It makes me feel better about my habit. :-)

I have been on a Jeremy Robertson run lately. 4 since Thanksgiving :-/

I have traded into a couple, got a GREAT deal on one, and paid for one straight up.

The most I've spent one one knife in one day was about $900.

My happy place is $200-$300. At that price I can buy it, use it, and not skip lunches or miss paying bills. I have spent less and more. I also tell myself "I can sell blah blah, and pay for it." Trouble is, I never sell the "blah blah".

When I joined this forum a little over 3 years ago, my most expensive pocket knife was ~$30 (a Kershaw Blur I got on sale)... And I mulled over that decision for a while... Now, the most I've spent on a single knife by far is a Kershaw TiLT (secondary market)... I won't say how much, but it was quite a lot. A distant second would be the ZT 0454.

Around ~$20-25 may still fall into the impulse buy category. Up to about $50, if there is something new/interesting/different I want to try about the knife, I'll bite. Above that, and I have to be able to make a good case to myself to pick it up. Over $200 takes a lot more convincing.

My comfort zone is from $100-300. But I'm much more of a collector personality than a strict user. All the talk about buying quality doesn't mean much when you could pick up half a dozen spydercos for one custom and if one breaks just grab a backup. When you start venturing into the realm of 500+ you are a collector like it or not. Now I still carry my customs and high end mid-techs. But I wouldn't call the light cutting tasks I use them for as "users". The most expensive folder I own I paid $1600 for and honestly I'm still not comfortable with that. I didn't buy it to use. I bought it because I find the maker's work to be polarizing and if I'm going to buy a knife from someone I want it to be the highest quality most aesthetically appealing model they have to offer. I picked up a CRKT foresight for $60 and damned if it isn't one of the smoothest flippers I own. I love that thing. If you are on this site it's because you love knives. And if you love knives your comfort zone will go up because when you love something you want your passion to grow.

My comfort zone is under $100. I think I have one or two knives over $100 and I have to think long and hard before I pull the trigger.

LoL :D
2100 is ALOT of money. Was it worth it?

Its not just the price, its about model, maker etc. For me atleast.
I can easily spend 600$, but when it gets to around 900$ im starting to choke. If the knife is right, and i love everything about it. I can spend $1k. Never dont it, but im waiting for a maker to reply..
ATM im out with 1400$ for two knives i dont even own.. I was lucky and got an "Early access" for two makers. So i dont have to wait like 2years to get a knife.. And i couldnt pass on that lol.
Until august, my knives will cost me lots and lots of money. Hurts to think about it sometimes.. Always struggling if its worth or not.. Some great makers though..

Two years ago i couldnt believe how a Spyderco Tenacious could cost like 50$, i could not understand.. But little did i know.. now im here and edcing a knife for 700$ :D

Apparently mine has become North of $400 but less than $500. :-) Damn it, I just bought another Hinderer. I tell myself "this one is the one. I will keep it" every time.

Over $500 i have to seriously think about while ill buy $100-200 on whims alot if i think i will like the knife
