Hey guys,

Well, its been a while that I've been on for more than 5 mintues, and I think its about time I let you all know what I've been up to.

In the last two months I have been training with the city, and surrounding communities. I've joined not only a section of the forces in this northern section of canada, but im also doing search and rescue for an area of a little over 350 square Km. I've been traveling, going to all sorts of places, met alot of new people and have been happier than ever, my girl friend was offered a new job, and the both of us have been having the time of our young lives.

I have been doing various searches in the are as well and though it has been one of the harder spots of my life at the same time, I feel a great sense of fulfillment for sure.

So, enough of that, lets get on to some of the gear I've been picking up on reservists pay I might add.

First up though, I would like to let you all know how a few bits of my gear have been holding up the last few months.

The RC6 that I bought from KGD a few months ago has been an absolute dream to use, I have done a little work to it though to dress it up, took the edge thickness down and made it a little fancier looking.

The edge of the thing works great now, its been a solid user on a few searches as well as various recce missions.

And the sheath is still in tact.

I have been very pleased with this knife, RAT has made a very solid knife and if it means anything, a SAR tech and military personal recommends it.

Next up would have to be the lunada. I got this from Bushman5 a few months ago as well, it has seen use day in and out every day for the last 2+ months and I am very pleased with it. There are some minor scuff's you could say, but over all has held up above what I expected it to.

Here is some wear on the under side of the strap, I can see in a year or so this wearing out.

It has been the best EDC I have used to date, I done the whole camera case thing, and every thing between this and those, but so far this has been the best.

I have to run for a little bit guys, but later tonight I will get up some more pictures of the LBV and the other new toys I have.

Here is the vest I've started using, so far its fine, it expandable, plenty big and has lots of room for any and every thing I could need.

Left side, then right.

Yup, its their slinger style pack, its not bad with a light load, like you would have with a edc loadout, but when that thing is packed its hard going.

Your a sartech?

mind if i send you an email with some questions? local recruiting office is rather useless. did you join from civilian, or threw CF?

Through the CF, but you could join civilian. Shoot me an e-mail.

That vest looks like a clone of a South African 85 pattern vest that I had awhile back. They are super versatile and the originals at least were built well.

this one seems ok so far, its the first one I have been using, so time will tell. The Quality seems a little less, or on par with maxpedition gear.

Neat stuff Fonly. I'd stick my keys in that vest and never find them again :D

Sorry if this is a stupid question, just wondering thats all, you say you carry tea bags, but, well, how do you make the tea? I could not see cooking equipment in your list, how do you boil water and then drink the tea? Or is it used as antiseptic?
Just curious.

If I ever had to use it, the small tin would be used to heat some water. for the most part hot water is available sometime during a search, we can be a ways out there, but there is all ways a neighbor who brings some hot water, or offers coffee. though I have an odd liking for cold tea.:o:D

Hey, non-gay backslapping hug, good to have you back. :D

You convinced me to give the Maxped sling packs a second look since they changed a lot of stuff about them. I ended up getting the Malaga, which sort of sounds like the sound you make when you have had too much vodka, but, hey! It's an excellent pack!

Good stuff Fonly, that vest brings out the "everything in its place" freak in me :D

Keep up the good work with SAR.

Glad to hear all is going so well Fonly, good to see you posting again !!!!
